It should have a dipstick, check it while running in park or neutral... If it needs fluid , fill through the dipstick VERY slowly, run throught the gears, and re-check

Transmission fault yellow warning light on 2001 Jaguar Vanden Plas

get a rebuilt or used transmission. Jaguar says you don't have to change trans fluid because it should last the "life of the trans" which means it will die just like everything else. Fluid change will do no good. I just went thru this.

How do i fill my transmission fluid in a a 99 jaguar xj8

There is no fill tube on either the 5HP24 (1996-2002) or 6HP26 (2003-2006) transmissions. They are both "sealed for death". By changing your transmission fluid you will prolong the life of the transmission. Jaguar only offered a 50,000 mile warranty, so they stand to benefit if your transmission conks out at 90,000 miles. The car has to be up on a lift (or at least on 4 tall jack stands) to check the fluid level or to add more fluid. Plus, the engine has to be running. You check the fluid level from the fill plug, and the plug is right next to the exhaust pipe which gets very hot. If you turn off the engine during the procedure, about 5 liters of fluid will drain out of the fill plug. Here's a video which shows the process for changing the fluid and pan on a 2003 transmission. The procedure is essentially the same for the 2002 and earlier cars, but there are some slight differences in the transmission internally.

Trying to put transmission fluid in my 2001 jaguar xj8 how do u do that

It has to be added through the dipstick tube where the level is checked. A small funnel is necessary.

Where to check transmission fluid on a 2001 jaguar xjr

If there is a red dipstick, check it from here.
If no dipstick, then you will have to go from underneath and look at tranny. There will be two plugs on tranny. A lower drain plug and upper fill plug. You can remove the upper fill plug, put finger in the whole and you should be able to feel the fluid. If not, add some, You can use a rubber hose and funnel or top with hose on bottle to help fill it up

I have a jaguar xj8 and the gear got stuck in park ,and I can't put it in reverse or drive. How can I fix this problem

Most likely the lock out switch at the brake pedal is at fault, because in order to put it in in to any gear you have to step on the brake first ! Their is a switch located which prevents you put it in gear with out stepping on the brake pedal, so check this switch first.
