Hi I tried to install new gauges for my ford taurus 95 SHO 3.0 DOHC V6. The instruction said to disconnect the the battery so i disconnected the negative and ground and began to remove the dash board. I disconnected the lights, rear def, the clock and the fog lights realized i had to splice the positive and negative wires to the lights.. so i decide to do it another time. Anyways after reconnecting the lights and all of the stuff when i reconnect the battery it starts to spark a bit once i get the negative and ground back on the anti theft lights flashes repeatedly and the car doesn't even turn over it does nothing ? PLEASE HELP ME I DON"T WANT TO TAKE THE BUS:(

SOURCE: 2005 ford taurus. Remote entry wont work theft light keeps blinking when key is engaged

HI, I'm reading your problem,
Let me explain something about your car.

2005 Ford Taurus, The key on that car has Chip inside of the key and receiver on the ignition switch,
Check if the key you are trying to use is Black and has a plastic head.
If not you need a key with that characteristics.
But if you have the right key, Remenber if you had drop on the floor, or hit with something,
Because some times they come damaged, with insignificat thins.
Remenber if you left the key close to a magnets like speakers.

If nothing aply at your case, you need to call a place Aloha Smith, they have the computer to program or reprogarm your key. IF not you can't start your car.

OK.. I hope this information work for you.

Thank's for submit yous question on fixya.com

Alternator replaced

REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

The different engine applications that the Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable are equipped with utilize different types of alternators. The following is a list of vehicle applications. For 1986-90 vehicles:

The 3.0L and the 3.8L engines utilize a side terminal alternator.

The 2.5L and the 3.8L (with Police Package only) engines utilize an alternator with an integral rear mount regulator and an internal fan.

The 3.0L SHO engines utilize an alternator with an internal fan and regulator. For 1991-93 vehicles:

The 2.5L, 3.0L and 3.8L engines utilize an alternator with a rear mount regulator and an internal fan.

The 3.0L and 3.2L SHO engines utilize an alternator with an internal regulator and fan.For 1994-95 vehicles:

The 3.0L, 3.8L and 3.0L SHO engines utilize an alternator with a rear mount regulator and an internal fan.

The 3.2L SHO vehicles utilize an alternator with a internal regulator and fan.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Loosen the alternator pivot bolt, then remove the adjusting bolt.
3. Remove the alternator drive belt from the drive pulley.
4. Tag and disengage the wiring terminals from the back of the alternator. The stator and the field wiring are the push-on type of retainer. After depressing the lock tab, the connector should be pulled straight off of the terminal to prevent damage.
5. Remove the alternator pivot bolt, then remove the alternator from the engine.
6. Position the alternator on the engine.
7. Install the alternator pivot bolt and the adjusting bolt, but do NOT tighten the bolts until the drive belt it tensioned.
8. Engage the wiring terminals to the alternator, as tagged during removal.
9. Install the drive belt over the alternator drive pulley, then adjust the belt tension using Belt Tension Gauge 021-00019, or equivalent.

When adjusting belt tension, apply pressure on the front housing only.

10. Tighten the adjusting bolt to 30-45 ft. lbs. (41-61 Nm), then tighten the pivot bolt to 50-70 ft. lbs. (68-94 Nm).
11. Connect the negative battery cable.

Hope helps.

Hi Tracy,

There are 3 different engines available for a 1992 Ford Taurus. There is a 3.0L V-6, a 3.0L DOHC SHO V-6, and a 3.8L V-6engine. It would be really helpful to know WHICH engine we are talking about.

How to change a radiator on a 1996 ford taurus

  1. Step 1 Drive your Ford Taurus up a set of ramps onto a pair of jack stands, if it is a 1996 model or newer. Remove the lower splash shields. For 1986 through 1995 models, you can remove all necessary components from above.
  2. Step 2 Begin by disconnecting the negative battery terminal and draining the radiator into a transportable container. Open the plastic draincock on the lower rear of the radiator and crack the radiator cap.
  3. Step 3 Remove the overflow tube from the coolant recovery bottle and disconnect it from the radiator. On SHO model engines, remove the recovery bottle as well. Next unscrew the shroud and remove it from the retaining clips. Disconnect the wires to the fan motor, and remove the fan assembly and shroud in one piece.
  4. Step 4 Squeeze the hose clamp ends together on the radiator side, and remove the upper and lower hoses. For automatic transaxle models, use either the custom Ford disconnect tool T82L-9500-AH or two crescent wrenches to remove the transmission coolant lines.
  5. Step 5 Disconnect the radiator supports. 1986 through 1992 models will have two upper retaining screws for 3.0 liter and SHO engines. 3.8 liter engines will have two driver's side hex nuts and two passenger side screws. All other models have either the upper screws or the combination of right hand hex nuts and left hand screws.
  6. Step 6 Tilt the radiator backwards toward the engine and lift it out. Fit the new radiator into the support and replace the support screws and nuts. Reattach the hoses and wires in reverse order.
  7. Step 7 Flush the new radiator with either water or a commercial flush treatment. Connect your battery terminals and replace the coolant and let the engine idle for 5 to 10 minutes with the heater on and the radiator cap removed. Top off the coolant as necessary.
Thank you,
Lee
