2001 dodge stratus r/t 3.o liter outside pulley on harmonic balancer fell off. do i need whole new balancer or is there something that came off that holds it on?

ON most engines there is only on pulley as part of the harmonic balancer. It is the on that has the rubber between the pulley and the center bit on the crank. Any other pulleys are normally bolted to this pulley on the center hub piece . I'm thinking that the mount bolts have fallen out.

A piece of material came out of my harmonic balancer and I dont have any brakes, steering, and its not charging what is the problem.

Sorry to tell you this but you need to get a new harmonic ballancer wheel.
The rubber that came out is part of the whole constructed unit.
The rubber lining inside the housing helps balance out any vibration in the belt assembly.
The rubber has to be inside the grooved drum that the belts attach to powered by the crankshaft,so no rubber inside is like driving your car without tires on the rims.
Slip around nice eh? so does the gap between the belt housing and the pulley that's attached to the crankshaft.

2001 Dodge 4x4 diesel 6-speed. Replaced clutch and pressure plate, now the starter won't turn the engine over.. Tried turning it over with the harmonic balancer, and the output shaft on the x-fer case. No...

One problem pops into head when I think about your description of the problem. The bolts that hold the pressure plate to the flywheel may be too long, causing the engine block to interfere with the rotation of the flywheel.

1988 dodge ram 50

Greetings!
Further to Tinkertoys1's note...

Yes, the harmonic balancer is manufactured to only fit on one way.
Now, knowing this, the harmonic balancer has a timing mark set into the outside area of the balancer.

Cheers, Jay
