My audi a4 1.8fsi 4 cylinder double cam runs rough. the diagnostic tool says the camshaft and camshaft speeds are not corresponding. what could be the problem?

You didn't state the year but could be a couple of issues. First, could have have a cam jump 1 tooth and it is now out of time. Second, you could have a cam or crank sensor failing and they are not syncing. Third, you could have a pcm/ecm failure or issue. Did you get a reference code?

p 0305 is misfire on no 5 cylinder code p1340 refers to camshaft (CMP) sensor 1 bank/ crankshaft position (CKP) sensor ---out of sequence === causes ---valve timing--CMP/CKP sensor installation---CKP sensor rotor
misfires are more injector problems that plugs
take it to an authorized service center for the position senor and valve timing problems

If one camshaft position sensor in bad, should all four be replaced? I have an Audi 2003 A4 wagon . With faulty sensors, what problems would you normally experience with the car? Thanks, Thomas

With these it can and usually will, effect timing and acceleration. No you do not need to replace all 4. Replace the bad one, clear the code and go for a good long test drive.

Got audi a4 1996 diesel need to change cambelt but

A diesel uses a different procedure. You'll need a tool to hold the camshaft pulley parallel to the top of the cylinder head. The timing mark to set TDC for piston #1 is located on top of bell housing. The pointer must be aligned on the diamond cut on the flywheel. A VW/Audi setting bar tool #2065A is needed to lock the camshaft in position. Lock the injection pumpin position using the special lock pin (VW/Audi special tool no. 2064). Caution: If the drive belt is broken or has jumped time, do not attempt to lock the sprocket at this time!!! You will also need VW/Audi special tool no. VW210 to measure belt tension between camshaft sproket and injection pump sprocket. So good luck.

What is a cam crank sensor on 2004 Audi A4

The "cam crank" sensor is the "reader" for position and speed of the camshaft. This sensor send informations to Engine Control Unit about camshaft position and speed. If the sensor is faulty engine stops!
