1999 Audi A6 Quattro will not run over 1500 RPMs.

I have a '99 A6 Quattro that has been sitting for about 10 months. I have had to jump it a few times to move the car, but the battery is not holding a charge. I am moving and jumped the car to get it from one house to other and the car would not go past 1500 RPMs. I have a new battery that I have not dropped tried yet. Any other thoughts?

Thanks for the quick response. My question was actually about the car not wanting to go over 1500 RPMs. Any thoughts on why that would happen? Could a dead battery cell (which I am pretty sure is the case) make that happen?

Start your car, then unplug the battery. if it dies, your alternator may need to be checked at an automotive parts store for it may be bad. If it runs, your battery has a dead cell and needs to be replaced.

Never disconnect the battery with the engine running if you have an alternator. It will ruin the voltage regulator! That old trick used to work with generators, never alternators as alternators need battery voltage to operate!

1999 AUDI A6 avant 2.8L quattro. Car vibrates

This is a manual transmission? If so the clutch probably needs to be replaced. When you say "VIOLENTLY" what is going on, what is the road speed, what are the RPMs at? The more specific information the better. And this problem ONLY occurs between gear changes, right? The other times, everything is normal?

Starting problem on my audi a6 2.8 quattro,,, i need help

Sounds like the gas presser valve or weak fuel pump. When it dose it again turn the switch on and leave it on for about 3 mins. and see if it will start. If it dose I would say the pump is weak.

I have a 1999 Audi A6 quattro, have just changed original fuel

You have to bleed the system, most likely air, or you blew the fuel pump fuse !
