Unable to open rear nearside door. I have managed to take off the door card and can now see the inside of the door but both the inside and outside door handles appear to be working but the lock mechanism is not opening .

You used the ignition key to turn the red button and now neither inside or outside will open the door? It is broken, you need an auto locksmith to jimmi the door and fix whatever has come adrift inside the door panel.

Hit the door lock with the remote or dr. side will lock all the doors so they won't open from the outside. If you open the rear doors, on the outside edge of the doors is a lever that will allow the rear doors to operate from the inside. Hope that helps

There should be a way to get it open from the inside , have done this on other vehicles, keep looking , there has to be a way to open when the electric lock unlock switch fails...

need to remove the door panel to access to lock system most likely the linkage rod popped off a clip or clip broke

The door may be able to be opened with a "slim jim" or similar device. To do this you need to know the mechanical details inside the door. Opening up the other rear door sounds drastic but it might help. If you can get it open then it should not be closed until it is fixed.

One way many car doors can be opened is to remove anything that is in the way of removing the inside door cover such as the bench seat and then remove the door cover. The rods and levers, etc can then be manipulated to open the door.

child latch only does not allow door to be opened from inside and should open ok from outside. you must have a faulty lock. very hard to get it open now,try stripping door card off if possible with door closed.

It sounds like the plastic connecting bit that links the outside door lever to the rod, that operates the door mechanism, has broken or become disconnected. To check, you will need to remove the trim on the inside of the door, after removing any screws and the inside door lever. However now that the child safety lock has been set it could be very difficult to get the door open.
All I can suggest is that you look at the other rear door to locate the position of the safety tab and then try to disengage it by using a suitable thin blade or something on your bad door so that you can again use the inside lever.
Once you have the inside trim off and the plastic sheet, you will see an access hole for the door mechanism and the outside operating handle of the door. It should be attached to the actuating rod by the aforementioned plastic bit. If plastic bit appears OK try re-attaching it or replacing it if broken. If the part of the handle which attaches to the rod is broken, the handle will need replacing.

Can you still open the door from inside? if so then most likely the metal bar that connects the door lock to the mechanism has come off, you will have to remove the interior "door trim/ door card" so you can see on the inside of the door, sometimes it is just a small plastic gromit that cracks and fall's into the bottom of the inside of the door. these are about £4 each from renault and it's an easy job to do your self.

Is the key stiff in the lock? or is the lock just spinning? if it is stiff then most likely the lock is at fault if the lock just spins round and does not open the door then the fault is more likely the mechanism inside the door or the forementioned gromit.

change door locks thats all u can do

If this is a late model polo[2000 upwards].The lock is probably in "safe" mode.Try pressing your remote[lock and unlock] alternatly,while trying to open the door
