Hi there, My 2003 nissan pathfinder starts okay but suddenly I have 4 warning lights and it won't do anything more than an idle. Only a slight response (~100 rpm) when I press the gas pedal. Warning lights: Service Engine Soon, SLIP, VDC Off, 4WD. For the past few days I've driven hundreds of kilometres with a heavy trailer load. This morning it started okay and I moved it over to the garage to unload some stuff. Figured since the doors were all open when I was unloading, I might have drained the battery a bit. So I chraged it up... still no throttle response. Any ideas? It's a holiday today here in Canada and no service stations or dealers are open. Cheers, B.Y. Toronto

My technical expert from FixYa said I need to diagnose the ECU (electronic control unit a.k.a. the "brains" of my car). I asked if I could reset the computer somehow; response was that I would need to disconnect the positive (+) battery for an hour to reset the ECU. Being low on time, I tried it after 15 minutes... everything worked except the "check engine" light was still on. Later that day, I disconnected the positive terminal for over an hour... and EVERYTHING came up fine... no more warning lights. As I suspected, the whole "Christmas tree" of dash lights was a false alarm... just a computer panicing.
