SOURCE: Aftermarket installation of remote central locking on 2006 Nissan Navara ST-R
Doesn't matter, I have given up, the existing central locking components are completely different to that of the new kit, I think I will just have to put my tail between my legs and go genuine, getting a Nissan dealership to fit it for me.

SOURCE: my rev counter does not work on my Nissan navara d22
The tach rpm counter on a diesel is driven by the rotation of magnets and a fixed crank position pick up sensor. The sensor could be bad or the gauge could be powered by a bad fuse. Some models have the sensor behind the front pulley, and some have them by the back flywheel.
The link shows the basic wiring.

But I would assume that if the crank position sensor was bad, the whole injection system would not work? And since it is still working, perhaps the problem is more likely to be with the gauge itself. check the third wire that is likely black, to see if it is grounded properly. Then see if the red wire is hot when you turn on the ignition. The senor wire is likely coming from the ecu, so make sure that harness connection is tight.
