Okay my car was running fine but NOW it runs like it's choking. If you get on it, it doesn't run correctly. Somebody said it could possibly be the Oxygen sensor. If it is how do I replace it? Is it free, or is it going to cost me anything? Don't worry about searching prices, I'll do that. (Also it's a hatchback not a 4-door, they just don't have hatchback.)

First, you have posted in the car and truck section, but I will try to help anyway. Sounds as if the engine begins to run lean after it warms up. This could be restricted fuel flow or just the main jet adjustment too lean. Using the choke limits air flow creating a richer mixture. Test fuel filters and lines.

Something broken inside the transmission. :-(

Try choking it or pumping the gas, possible vacuum leak, or choke not set correctly, carb may need to be adjusted, give more detailed question for more detailed answer. Good luck

indicates that the auto choke ( carby ) needs adjusting or if fuel injected , the ambient temp sensor needs replacing

Does it start okay when it is cold? If so you may have low coolant level, or the engine temperature sensor may be faulty. A scan of the engine control computer would verify the faulty temp sensor.

the choke has 3 screws to adjust the unit,the choke itself will normaly be siezed inside at the age.With a warm engine, loosen the 3 screws and turn the choke untill the idle drops.

or as i did it-with a cold engine, remove the airffilter and with the 3 screws loose on the choke press the accelerator pedal just over half so the choke is engaged and the looking inside the filter housing adjust the choke flap by turning the choke housing until the flap is 3/4 closed and tighten slightly and start the car.Do remember to check your distributor timing whith a warm engine and make sure the sparkplugs and airfilter are okay as each upsets the other.

Check your nozzles.

you say the temp gauge doesn,t work could it be possible the thermostat is stuck open which would mean the engines running cold which means the auto choke won,t knock off normally if you short the temp switch wire to ground the gauge goes straight over to hot if it does,nt then the gauge is faulty but its usually the switch as far as the high c/o it could be as stated above or some thing as simple as an air cleaner c/o should be under 2.5 these carbs weren,t the best when they came out which type is it if its the v v i would get it overhauled
