I just replaced the battery in a 1996 Saturn, but lost the screw to the battery hold down. What size screw do I need to buy to replace it? I know the head is 10 mm.

Sorry I can't be much help by telling you the ISO metric standard size of a bolt (setscrew) with a 10mm head is a 6mm diameter (usually 6 x 1 (the 1 being the thread pitch)).
It gets more complicated when very few vehicle batteries are held down by 6mm bolts and 8mm is more usual (12 or 13mm head).

This is so far so simple - except car manufacturers have sort of thrown away the ISO metric book of rules and in efforts to reduce weight and to make it easier for robots and automatic machinery to assemble vehicles, they often use bolts with reduced head sizes so for the last 2 or 3 decades encountering an 8mm bolt with a 10mm head is common.

Try measuring the hole in the battery hold down bracket with a series of drill bits...

your cars battery might only need charging or battery acid replacement, but if you'd realy wish to buy new one, buy one with the same size and voltage and amps as the one you have right now, or you could buy a battery with the same voltage with a higher amppere-hour (Ah) rating!

How would I replace a battery on a Triumph wristwatch ? I have the tool to put the back on . Just never encountered this type of battery with it's unique hold down . Thanks in advance Godbless

To replace the battery in your Triumph wristwatch, you may need to use a specialized tool to release the steel hold-down. Here are the steps you can follow:

Remove the back of the watch using the tool you have.

Locate the battery and the steel hold-down. The hold-down is usually a metal plate that covers the battery and keeps it in place.

Use a flat screwdriver or a specialized battery removal tool to gently pry the hold-down up and release it from the battery. Some hold-downs are held in place with screws, so you may need to remove screws first.

Once the hold-down is removed, gently lift the battery out of its compartment.

Replace the old battery with a new one of the same size and type.

Replace the hold-down over the new battery and press it into place.

Replace the back of the watch, making sure to tighten the screws securely.

Note: If you're not comfortable with replacing the battery yourself, it is best to take your watch to a professional watch repair service for assistance. Replacing the battery improperly can cause damage to the watch.

I need to remove the interior door panel on a 1996 Saturn CR1. The trouble I'm having is getting the door handle and lock off. What is the best way to remove this part without breaking it.

If you look closely, they're may be a screw or two holding these in place that you can't see easily. They may also be covered by a plug. Look closely! If not, there must be clips holding them in place. Buy a manual for your car to assist you in this task. Hayne's Repair Manuals are the best I've used.

Replacing a fuel pump on a 2002 saturn lw300

You can check in the trunk and remove the felt cover see if there is a round panel cover that you can remove to get to the tank. If your unlucky and have to remove the tank you will have to remove the tank. The cover may be under the spare tire so pull it out. It is not to difficult to do, if you drive it till the gas is almost out you can remove the two bolts that hold the tank in place. Use wd-40 to spray on the bolts and also spray the hinges on the oppitse side of the straps. once the nuts are off drop the tank down. You will need to pull the screws off the tank filling tube so it will come down as well. drop the tank down far enough for you to get to the fuel tank sending unit. it will have philips screws holding it in place. Mark two spots with a felt tip pin, (Sharpe) white is better and mark two holes so you can line the it back up for the holes and the hoses. disconnect the fuel line and return line disconnect the battery of the car for safety then pull the wires off it can be a plug or it may have nuts on them. When you remove the nuts or screws out pull the pump out and you will have to angle the pump to get the float out. I recommend that you replace the pump and the sock on the end of the pump. Do not buy after market buy factory replacement only you only want to do this once. mark the new pump holes on the pump using the old pump as an example, will save a lot of time to get it to fit in and match and the lines will line up, tighten all screws up put the lines back on and the clamps and reinstall the tank in place. yo can use your knees to hold it in place till you get the clamps lined up and started. Screw the nuts down till tight and your set to go just hook up the battery again and your set to go.
SIde Note, Never let your car get below 1/4 of tank of fuel, the reason is gas is the coolant for the pump if it goes lower than that the pump will heat up and will burn out. Many people don't know this so I thought I would add this to your knowledge

I have a 1996 Saturn SC2 and I need to change motor on driver side but can not get the out side part of door off. how do you remove that portion of the door?

Just wanted to let everyone know, in order to change the window regulator on a 1996 saturn you do need to remove the exterior door which is connected by about ten lock screws around the inside of the door. you also need to remove the side view mirror and the door handle which has a little plug on the bottom right side that should come out with a pair of needle nose or something, then the handle should slight to the left and off. Pull the hole outer panel up and off and there you go. But you do still need to remove the inner door panel to put new nuts and bolts to hold the new regulator in because the orginals are held in buy rivets so you have to drill those out.
Hope that helps anyone.

I need to remove the car battery from a 1996 960 volvo sw.

moz-screenshot.jpgThe hold down bolt is a @ 10inch long think bolt with an eye/thumbscrew at the top next to the front of the battery. Mine was severed at the level of the battery top by electrolytic corrosion, so the top was missing.

I removed it with small vice-grip pliers but it was hard to reach in the confined space. This is the replacement part I found on line
