Interior lights will not turn off.

1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Interior lights go off as normal when vehicle is running, when I turn the ignition off the lights come on, remove the key and the lights stay on.
Only fix I have at the moment is to pull the fuse. I'm thinking it may be
the ignition switch. Any help will be appreciated.

I had the same problem, it is a relay in your fuse box under the passenger side dash. i think it says courtesy lights on it.

My 1996 grand jeep cherokee wants to start..cranks up but wont..however, when i put key in ignition..none of the dials move...they're all dead

First the dials will not normally move until the vehicle is started. This is to reduce the load on the battery when cranking. You need to check for spark and fuel and all of the normal things for a non-starting vehicle.

1996 jeep grand cherokee no automatic interior lights

1. If you have the light switch in the wrong mode the lights will not operate when you open the door.

2. If the interior lights do not operate at all (ie you cannot switch them on and off manually)then you need to check the fuse for the interior lights.

3. When set to the correct mode, the interior lights will operate from a door operated switch so if the switch has failed the lights will either stay on or not operate at all when you open and close the door. Eventually these door switches fail with repeated use and need to be replaced. (Consider how many times the small door switch has been operated since 1996).

1996 jeep grand cherokee, interior lights wn't shutoff

Have you tried checking the dimmer switch for your instrument panel? I believe if the switch is slid all the way up it will cause the interior lights to stay on. Hope this helps.

Engine light on. car runs perfectly. emmission good

if this is the check engine light, it probably needs reset. What you do is take the positive cable off the battery, lay it aside so it doesn't touch the terminal, go inside your vehicle and turn the ignition on and completely off (3) times, put switch back in normal off position, reinstall positive battery cable to battery and this should reset your computer
