Does the car loose power and sputter? Or did you put it in gear without your foot totally on the brake and it went into gear hard ? This is a drive by wire system that has a throttle motor on the throttle body unplug it and plug it back in this may help also diconnect the battery to clear the code first then do what was mentioned earlier in this post
Hi There.
sounds like your release bearing has either collapsed or seized, either way you will have to drop the gear box and check it out... should'nt be a problem on a 1999 fiesta. just be careful not to pop a drive shaft and lose the transmission fluic on the floor.
Good Luck
please bear with me on this? but with engine running? stationary not in gear does the engine respond ok ? ie will it rev up with no problems ? i assume it starts fro cold/warm no problem ? please say which engine fitted and is it the carburettor type ? as for the screeching if car has power steer ? may well be drive belt loose so as you turn the pump load causes belt to spin on drive pully if this has been for a while then may i suggest you renew belt as it may be impending a premature failure/snap so no power steering! when you least need that to happen ? hope this helps
