Car battery slowly goes down after a few days and car will not start without a jump. Monitor on dash says Tail lamp failure, bulbs were replaced and are still working properly.

tail = parking lamps.= running lights even license plates too rear.
just buy a dead lamp car??????? or out of the blue this....?????
is this car in Canada with rotten law DRL lamps , silly day light running lamps that love to fail ?

not told if this is canada and those silly DRL lamps up there.
in many cars dome lamps run off parking (tail) lamps fuse too
and does the cluster background lamps.
what happens too is the park feed is weak due to DRM module overheating at its pins melt and burn.

I call DRL failure here, seems to me blind as a bat in texting contest of failure.(lol)

even in Europe most oddities like headlamps that change angle as truck cargo goes too heavy, seen it all , the odd.(worldly odds)

the DRL module on newer cars (canada) in the day time
they modulate the head lamp power feed so that they are dim.
to save burn out fast of expensive head lamps.

the car needs repair, and is clear that. (beyond fuses)
get it fixed is the answer, live humans , not me.

the tail relay runs all park lamps in car over 20 lamps.

2 tail ,
1 license lamp
2 front park lamps.
and a fuse. called tail.
the 96 in canada is wired with DRL you got a canada car?

the switch turned to park, grounds the relay coil
and it energizes.

the starter uses 10x more elect. power than the head lamps
or 100x more than dash lamps. it means little.
what matters most is jumper cable starts.
does it crank with jumper cables to a running, donor car,(aaa jump)
no bad starter
no, bad starter key line( immobliizer or such) ask how to test.
yes, cranks great, now.
that means the battery was dead,
i charge the battery and it now cranks, due to lights left on or
charge system failure, if battery goes to 13.3 to 15v running good
if on the charge system failed. (causing battery discharge)
if after charging a battery it will not crank car, its a bad battery (jumps ok)

The only thing that both the brake lights and tail lights use is a ground connection. Keep in mind the warning light on the dash may be for any exterior lamp. You may need to check the sockets and grounds on all four corners of the car.

Pull that fuse or pull tail lamp relay, that should kill the lamps till you figure out the problem? You also have left an right tail lamp fuses, underhood fuse box. I don't know if tail lamp relay is faulty? Another concern, see the bottom wire on left of tail lamp relay, that is a ground controlled by the headlamp/multifunction switch, there could be a problem with that wire circuit or the multifunction switch. At the moment, I'm hoping just faulty relay.

faulty bulb or the connection on the bulb fitting is not good.

High Mounted Stop Lamp Removal & Installation To Remove:

1. Disconnect battery negative cable.
2. Disconnect high mounted stop lamp electrical connector from inside trunk.
3. Remove package tray.
4. Replace bulb from package tray.

To Install:

1. Install package tray.
2. Connect high mounted stop lamp electrical connector from inside trunk.
3. Connect battery negative cable.

have someone check the brake lights when the pedal is depressed to check if they are working properly. also check tail light housing for water damage that can cause electrical shorts.

start by the battery twist wire on pos termanal this happen to me on my dodge van bad batt took out speed o meter and tach. replaced batt no speedo no tack.i had to go on a a long trip back home half going up a hill the tach jumped to life then about one hour latter had to make a stop pulling off the freeway slowing down for the stop sign the speedo came on and both have worked ever since. I have talked to a dealer ship there no reset codes for that problem
