I have a 95 Maxima that occasionally stalls when I come to a stop. The check engine light was on so I hooked it up to an OD2 sensor and it gave the following 7 codes: P 1320 - Distributor Signal...

Trying to clean the MAP sensor will damage it. Install a New Air filter and The Fuel filter, then replace the MAP sensor. Do not touch, or spray(compressed air or solvent) on the element when installing it. Have all of the OBD II Stored codes Deleted. Add a can of B&G 44K fuel additive to a full tank of fuel. The B&G is the best on the market, do not substitute. It is only available Through dealerships (Toyota). It will condition fuel pump and injectors. The ECU in your car is very dependable and rarely needs replacing. Always Replace cheapest parts first. Test drive the car and Then recheck The OBD II for new faults. The dimming of your lights before shut down was due to RPM of the engine dropping below 750 RPMs. Alternator will not produce voltage below 750 Rpms. 30 Amps at 14 Volts is required to run the engine.

Car stalls when put in 'drive'

Check your air horn (big rubber boot) to the throttle body. It may have a crack on the underside and when you put it in drive and the engine torques to that side the crack opens and causes it to die.

My 1992 Nissan Maxima is sputtering upon acceleration. It has 220,000 miles on it and it seems to mainly have this problem in first gear. And mostly happens shortly after starting the car. Ive done a basic...

92 max
I own a 92 max 370 kms runs good but one day just cuts out while doing about 30 km, I pull over i can start it no problem but when I touch the pedal to accelerate the car stalls out.

It got worse to the point of sputtering on the highway , sometimes i could keep it alive by working the pedal but others would slow down and stall out.

I have changed the fuel filter and plugs seemed to make it a bit better but still stalling. I ran it in my driveway for 10 mins on idle then it stalls out

Is this the fuel pump??

Car Stalls at low speed. Restarts. DTC Code 0340 and 1167

The codes you provided indicate separate issues. Code 1167 is indicative of either a stuck fuel injector of the O2 sensors. Code 0340 indicates the CMP position sensor. Replacing the O2 sensors will likely clear the 1167 code assuming the fuel injectors are okay. It would be the first course of action. If there's no noticeable change in performance (i.e. stalling problem continues) then the CMP position sensor is likely your overall problem. Best of luck.

Car stalls

when cars idle super low this ussually mean that you fuel filter is clogged.........change the fuel filter.......and if that does not help.....check the air filter.......if dirty change it.......and if that still does not help......check the o2 sensor......and if that does not work......"when was the last time you had a tune up on your car"?

you might need new plugs...........also try runing a fuel injector cleaner....sometimes it is because the injec are dirty......

My nissan maxima stalls

Every answer here is wrong. This has been driving people nuts for 15 years. The problem is the engine wiring harness which has a bend going past the right strut tower, Nissan had a service bulletin on this in September of 1999, Google it, it's in pdf.
