2006 check engine light came on and RPM slowed to 2000

Was headed up the canyon when my 2500 cumins start to slow down and the check engine light came on. Now it will not rev above 2000 RPMs less power than normal. Just changed the air filter and had it serviced a couple weeks ago. I can hear the turbine whining so it cant be that. Maybe the fuel filter?

Not the fuel filter, this is an emissions problem. Sounds like it is in Limp Mode. You need to have the ECU scanned for trouble codes. Is this vehicle not still under warranty for the emissions system? Call your Dodge dealer and find out.

Runs fine until you reach 2100 rpm then starts to sputter and slow down

number of possibilties including fuel filter, fuel pump, defective fuel regulator, an ignition problem, or possibly a clogged catalytic converter-are there a check engine light? Does it only do this when cold, or warmed up, or all the time?

On my 2006 Ram 2500 truck. Last week I hit a bump while traveling about 60 MPH. The front tire started shaking, I thought I had a blow out. When I slowed down to about 30 it all stopped. When I...

A few possibilities.... bent rim, broken steel belt in tire, or a wheel weight that keeps the tire/wheel combination in balance has fallen off. Not sure how big the bump was, so other options would be suspension related. I would check the tire and/or wheel first.

My 1997 Chrysler Concord idles at 2500 to 3000 rpm when first started and when it warms a little it idles at 2000 rpm and stays there. When I start it right after I turn it off, it starts at 2500 rpm then...

Maybe a short to the TPS or something shorting it out. There's also the IAC that really controls the idle but usually it will cause the RPM's to go up and down a little erratic if bad. The MAF sensor can cause major problems as well but since you already swapped the TPS and it helped and then stopped I would focus on that sensor and especially it's wiring to and from the ECM. Be careful with the sensor signal wire to the ECM can blow it if more than 5v passes or spikes.

I HAVE REPLACED AN ENGINE ON MY T595 USING THE OLD THROTTLE BODIES AND NOW THE ENGINE RUNS 2500 /3000 RPM ANY IDEAR HOW TO SLOW IT DOWN?

The most likely cause of this would be an air leak somewhere. Have a good look round (especialy around the throttle bodies) for anywhere the engine could be sucking air.

Engine stalls when slowing down

I'm had a similar problem with my Caravan this past October. Ask your mechanic to check the fuel pump and oxygen sensor. There was a recall on Airtex fuel pumps in 24,000 2000 Caravans in 2006, so might want to see if it was one of the affected pumps and it can be replaced for free. Good luck!
