HI. I HAVE A CADILLAC SEVILLE V8 4.9L '92 135000 MILES. THE WATER PUMP, RADIATOR, ARE NEW, THE FAN MOTOR IS WORKING. THE PROBLEM IS SOMETIMES THE ENGINE OVERHEATING (251 DEGREES) AND DECREASE 241, 234, AND GO UP AGAIN 245, 251 ETC. BUT IS WEAR BECAUSE IN THE MORNINGS OR NIGHTS, IT READS 165, 171 MAXIMUM WITH NO PROBLEMS. WHAT COULD BE BE WRONG??? THANKS A LOT.
IT DOESNT HAS A THERMOSTAT, IS THIS PART IMPORTANT? CAN THE THERMOSTAT BE THE CAUSE OF THE OVERHEATING??? THANKS.IT DOESNT HAS A THERMOSTAT, IS THIS PART IMPORTANT? CAN THE THERMOSTAT BE THE CAUSE OF THE OVERHEATING??? THANKS.

The top radiator hose goes into the thermostat on the top of the engine and the lower comes out of the water pump and returns to the radiator. Hope this helps.
Someone would need to test the system and find out at what point the engine is overheating. Is the thermostat not opening - is the coolant not flowing - or are the fans not coming on when the coolant reaches 220 degrees ?
Either, coolant temperature sensor, cooling fan relay, cooling fan ,radiator or water pump is defective . Worst case seniaro is you have a bad head gasket. I recommend you have the cooling system pressure tested to eliminate the head and leaks as being a cause.
Them have the tech check water pump and fan as well as their controls for defects.
It can be that the cooling fans are not coming on from air in the cooling system,or a bad coolant sensor or cooling fan relay,or a bad water pump,or radiator.
are your fans or fan working if not it will get hot. I assume you have electric fans or fan if so make sure when it starts to overheat the fan or fans come on if not check the fuse for the fans or relay, breaker, wiring itself.
remove radiator and power wash fins they could be blocked then install again then get a good engine flush drain water then refill with flush and water then start and drive read the flush bottle for instructions then let all out again then refil with clean water and a good coolant , remember to blead the system when filling every time you drain water etc, hope this helps. it will work.
maybe the water pump wasnt the problem to begin with. if the engine temperature only goes up when you stop the car then most likely it is the FANS that are not engaging to cool the radiator which is a problem with the fan sensor, computer that controls the fans, relay/fuse. I had the same problem on my 1999 cady STS coming back from my vacation. the engine temperature would be normal only when I drove the car above 70km/hr because the air passing through the front of the car would cool the radiator. when I slowed down the fans wouldnt start and no air was passing through to cool the rad, hence the engine temperature would start to go to HOT. good luck.
IT DOESNT HAS A THERMOSTAT, IS THIS PART IMPORTANT? CAN THE THERMOSTAT BE THE CAUSE OF THE OVERHEATING??? THANKS.
