A/c stops blowing cold air when the vehicle is not moving. It will blow cold air while driving but when you stop at a light or stop sign it will blow warm air until the vehicle starts moving again. It does not matter what the outside temperature is. It has the same problem if it is 80 degrees at night time or 95 degrees during the day. I just purchased this vehicle, it is a 2007 Ford Five Hundred with 50k miles.
Plus one on the cooling fan problem. if it was low on charge then as you slow down, condensor temps and line prressures would raise therefore it would cool at low speed and and not when moving since the incoming air would drop system temp, reducing line pressure and then cusing compressor to cycle. the auxillary cooling fans must be on whenever a/c is on, if not, thats your problem. get this taken care of because if you get stuck in traffic, your engine will overheat also if fans are not running
Possibly low on freon. check for a/c oil stains/wet spots around all a/c connections. This will be where a freon leak would be.
Make sure cooling fans come on when the a/c is engaged.
Count how many times the clutch cycles in a minute. 4 to 7 is spec at 70 degrees F
