92 pontiac bonneville stalls and wont start

it could be a crankshaft sensor being the tac needle
is acting this way.

Sounds like the crankshaft position sensor is failing. I have allot of experience with this problem. The sensor is located just off the crank pulley which it gets its signal from.

I had the same problem with my 2000 Bonneville SLE and I replaced the crank shaft sensor and it solved the problem. The crank shaft sensor is located behind the harmonic balancer. You have to take the balancer off to get to the part. You will need a puller to get it off. You will also have to take the fly wheel cover off and hold the fly wheel when you remove the nut from the front of balancer.

Thoroughly check your battery connections and ground wires. remove them and clean them

sounds like a bad ignition module. when it heats up it fails. after the car cools down it starts. correct?

car idles rough and stalls when driving wont stay running

check the oil pressure sending unit. pos loose wire.
or cracked unit

Have you chg.fuel filter and had a fuel pressure test done? Does it have spark after it stalls? Fuel pumps are a common problem, they work when cold get warmed up they quit, after a while quit all together. Do the fuel pressure test.

I just went through lots of troubleshooting and expense on my 1996. Whenever I would lift my foot off the accelerator and was below about 30 mph, the rpm's would starts jumping around and sometimes it would stall. If I gave it a little gas (accelerator), I could sometimes keep it running. It also backfired once in a while. Starts right back up. Also, if I let it idle while in part, it would die after 1-2 minutes.

I ended up finding a hole in the fuel regulator. About a ~$70 part if you get an AC Delco, but very simple to change.

if this a fuel injected car just check to fuel pressure first.
