Power door lock, driver side only, does not work in my '95 Sable

After replacing the inside door handle and door latch (I got the latch from a junk yard), the power door button now does not go down all the way or up in response to hitting the power button. In other words, it now does not lock or unlock automatically (in driver's door only). It make a noise -- a loud vibrating noise -- but does not work. This was working fine before the handle and latch were replaced.

Thanks in advance for any idea on what to do now.

If you here a noise that should mean the little motor (door lock actuator) thar works the door lock is getting power to it and it should be ok. sounds like when you changed the inside latch you must have disturbrd/disconnected the linkage or the clip that connects the lock actuator to the latch assembly(the female V-SHAPED mechanism that engages the POST/STRIKER (male part) its a little hard to name these parts so i am describing them to you. look insidethe door and see if you see any threaded RODS OR LINKAGES that are not connected at both ends.the noise youre hearing is most likely the door lock actuator "spinning"up and down but its unable to lock or unlock the door latch mechanism.

Driver's side door won't open from inside or outside

Check the linkage between the lock cylinder and the lock; when the latch was loose, the linkage may have broken or otherwise disconnected. The lock/unlock rod to the latch will be accessible inside the door for manual operation rather than using the lock cylinder or interior lock in the door panel. If this is the rear door on the driver side, additionally check the position of the child safety lock; when this is in the ON position, the inside door handle function is disabled. '95 Thunderbird driver's side door doesn't open from inside.

Hello Elly
You need to remove the inside panel of the door and there should be a metal rod that connects the inside door handle to the lock.
It sounds like the connecting rod slipped out of the hole. There is usually a white plastic piece that holds the rod in position. The rod pushes inside the center hole of the plastic piece and there is like an arm that clips onto the rod to keep the rod in place. This plastic piece arm could be broken or came loose which causes the rod to slip out.

Drivers side door closed and will not open.

Remove inner door latch and try operating the rod manually (vice grips). If locked, spray everything inside the door with WD-40 or the like and try operating the lock.

Why won't the inside Driver Door Handle work after being replaced

Make sure if it is equipped with a child safety lock on the inside of door jamb below or above the latch is unlocked. If that is ok then check to be sure the cable or rod to the interior handle is properly connected to the latch, remove door panel and if you can't see it directly you may have to use a mirror and flashlight to see if all is connected if so work the interior door handle while looking at all moving parts and tracking down where it is not doing it's function.

2006 buick lucerne back doors won't open

My friend just had this problem and he reached in and pulled the inside door handle back as far as it would go, and then let it go, allowing it to 'snap' back. For some reason this fixed it. We have no idea why. By doing this on one door, both rear door locks freed up and the rear locks are now working. Before, both rear locks were stuck and you could not open the doors from the inside nor the outside. Not sure why it works, but maybe it will work for you!

1998 4x4 ford explore driver side door will not

There are long linkage rods from the inside handle to the latch assembly. There should be an adjustment on these links. Too tight keeps latch from locking, too loose it won't unlatch. Use a screw driver or rod to trip the latch asm so you don't have to keep opening and closing the door. Also if it sticks closed and won't unlatch, the door won't be locked closed on you.

The driver side door lock wont go all the way up.

The outside door handle spring is broke ,or the latch spring is broke. The only way to tell is remove the door panel and inspect the rod from the handle to latch. Look for broken spring on handle. I have installed an external spring from the handle rod to latch to keep the rod in the full up position.

Door latch frozen open

My 2000 Sable does it evey winter - all 4 doors. I have found spraying WD 40 into the latch on the door works quickly to allow you to close the door.

Driver's side door power locks are stuck; door stuck shut.

sounds like the rods are disconnected the clips hold the rods in place the latching mechanism holds the handle in place as well did you replace the speakers or did a shop? if a shop did then they caused this if you did then you may have caused this either way untill you reattach the rods none of it will work. you will have to manually open the door at the latch from inside teh door behind the panel.
