If somebody replaced the turbocharger with a new one, you must check up all command vacuum lines, the entire air intake system (air pressure pipes, intercooler, connections, EGR - throttle vane, ...), and also turbocharger and EGR command solenoid valves (three pieces). Could be also MAF sensor defective! Here you have the vacuum air pipes connection picture for Audi A4 1.9 TDI (AJM engine):

HI this could be your desiel pump, you would have to have it checked, or an air lock somewhere when new turbo was fitted

Audi A3 TDI glow plug light flashing. Turbo doesn't kick in. Persistent problem now. Previously, it came and went.

hi
possibly the EGR valve is blocked.
one way to clear it. by taking it to a high way. drive in lower gear and more speed to clear EGR.
otherwise remove the egr valve and connecting pipe and clean the build up carbon.

Hello everyone having similar sort of issues , any help would be much appreciated ,, trouble with my 04 plate a3 2.0 tdi , the car loses power in first and second makes a lot of noise but doesn't really go anywhere but if ease completely off and back on again the turbo kicks in properly it also won't go over 4000 rpm unless I go off and on the throttle any help would be greatly appreciated also I took the vacuum resivour pipe off whilst checking a few things and it cured it until I was cruising down the motorway and it just lost all power so I stopped and put vacuum resivour pipe back on and after about 15 mins the vacuum must have built back up again because it was back to just being useless in 1st and 2nd gear ..???????? Help !!!! I'm lost

Hi, on an audi a3 2.0 TDI would the engine position sensor coz the turbo not to kick in properly?

NO THE PROBABLE CAUSE IS A VALVE THAT ADJUSTS THE TURBO PRESSURE!CHECK FOR DTCS FIRST AND LET ME KNOW!!

Its a 04 a4 tdi avant with 290k klm full service history from new im the 3rd owner, the turbo is whistling on accleration, is this good or bad?

This is a bad issue. From now you should think about turbocharger reparation or replacement with a new one. It's a normal turbo wear after 290k km. Pay attention at exhaust gases colour and at engine oil level! Good luck!

Hi, I have a 2005 Audi A3 1.9 tdi and turbo on the car blew up few weeks ago, car had to to be toed home. I got a brand new turbo installed 2 weeks ago and this morning car has gone into limp state and...

I should think that, if the mechanic did not install the turbo correctly, you would not have been able to drive it for two weeks before something went wrong.. Have him scan the computer to find out what the problem is. Whatever caused the first turbo to blow up is probably causing the current turbo problems. At least this time the computer has prevented a total failure. Give the mechanic a chance to find out what is happening.

BLUE SMOKE FROM AUDI RS6 ON DE ACCELERATION AND START UP THINK OIL STEM SEALS ARE LETTING OIL THROUGH. CAR RUNS FINE I THINK, AND EXCESSIVE BUILD UP OF OIL IN DRIVER SIDE TURBO PIPE, 62000 MILES WITH A...

General rules of thumb: Low speed engine on acceleration with smoke in the exhaust plume = worn piston rings High speed engine accelerating (spooled up turbo) with smoke = oil form turbo bearing and/or piston rings Engine on over run (coasting down, foot off the gas) with smoke = oil from valve guides. VW/Audi make good engines with tight tolerances so none of the above should apply at 62K miles; just make sure that the oil (the right oil) and oil filter are changed regularly.

Just know that engine looses power and takes a long time to build up speed. Hear the noise of the turbo and has just been told that it is the problem and may need a new one. just not able and sure if I can...

the turbo is common on the tdi engine a fully recondition unit will cost you around £500, a second hand 1 will cost you from between £150-£250, but just be carefull as you will need the numbers from the turbo to match, good luck with this

Why do you think it's your turbo? Are you losing power?

I have a Y plated A4 TDi the turbo seems to die after a while. starts off fine, within 20 minutes i lose power and the turbo dies

common problem with VNT turbo's fitted to audi's is sooting up of the variable nozzles of the turbo. this causes the the actuating ring inside the turbo to jam, the engine managment senses this and goes to emergency running mode, ie low power. You can clean turbo VNT housing if your a bit handy with the spanners but this involves removing unit from the car and cleaning housing, actuator ring and vanes on the exhaust side of the turbo with scotchbrite. You dont have to dismantle the impellor but you do still have to keep every thing really clean. Another cause of power loss is the air flow meter so you may want to check that out before taking your motor to bits.
