1995 safari van w stalls when giving it gas. changed fuel pump and filter. replaced egr valve. sometimes rough idle. when it stalls just like you turned off key. then when you try to start it acts like it is flooded.no smell of gas. will not start right away. wait few minutes starts but runs rough and stalls again when given gas. possible fuel related or a sensor?

    there is no codes. checked iac valve and cleaned. still stalls. like it chokes out. any other ideas? thanks for the advice.

    iac valve is working fine. changed tps now it is hard to start.coincedence? could it be fuel pressure regulator?

Maybe your iac valve is not working? it takes place of a choke or temp sender to computer could be bad which controls t I.A.C. known as the idle control valve,do you have any codes?

    ok your sure the stepper motor in the IAC is going in and out right?

    how is the fuel pressure? is it holding?

    ant when the computer is on vehicle is the E.C.T. reading correct?

Rough idle 95 astro van, I did a full tune up , plugs,wires,cap, rotor,air filter,and fuel filter and cleaned egr vavle.
I actually had to replace my EGR valve and the gasket. I clean the valve well and reused both. I don't think the gasket sealed well enough though. So I went ahead and got a new valve, gasket and changed them. It runs a lot smoother now.

Hello i have a 1995 buick park avenue that has a rough idle and stalls in the mornings after sitting over night the first two or three times it will stall but after that it idles rough til it gets warm,ok...
Try plug wires, that's about all you haven't replaced. Actually if you have an ohm meter you can test them - anything over 6k ohms per foot - REPLACE them. Also run a good fuel system cleaner through it and stay away from cheap gas.

Do you have a check engine light on? Is this a 4.3 with central port injection? If it's running real rich it might have a fuel leak inside the intake, either a fuel pressure regulator leaking or a feed line to the injector.

I have a 1994 gmc safari.It seems to have a smooth idle at times
Im not sure if you got it fixed yet! It could possibly be idle air control valve. But here some more suggestions! I had a 94 Safari van 4.3 liter I was working on for about three days and I finally figured out what was wrong with it. It would run fine for a couple minutes and as soon as I hit the gas and let off it would surge, but anyways I ended up changing the distributer, after the fuel pump and filter, mass air flow sensor, egr valve, idle air control valve, map sensor, and ignition module. So that might sove the problem if you were on the same track with it as I was. Hope this helps ya!

HARD TO START WHEN COLD AND WHEN IT DOES IDLES BAD AND STALLS.
Try replacing the ignition control module it is located under the distributor cap Cost is around $30.

ya these motors need tons of fuel pressure so if you have a pressure tester test the fuel pressure prior to the fuel filter and see if it is atleast 25 psi if not replace pump with new or rebuild all the luck to you with current project
