While the AC is on, and the engine running, if the clutch of the compressor is slipping or not running, give the clutch a smack with wooden stick or something, if it suddenly starts to work, you need to re-shim the clutch.it wears over time, and the gap between the clutch and the pulley gets too big ,and the fuel coil can no longer pull in the clutc

Why does my ac gets cold for 15-20 mins then blow hot air after that in my 99 s70 volvo?

This is usually a result of not having enough refrigerant in the system. You may have a leak or it may just be time for a recharge. Bring it to your mechanic and have them evacuate the system and recharge it if there are no leaks. If there is a leak, dye can be added to find the leak once it's recharged. They might also have a 'sniffer" that can find leaks while the compressor is running before recharging it.

Hello. I have a 1998 Volvo S70 sedan (stick shift) and the air conditioning is blowing out warm air. It used to get very cold. Do I need to replace my air compressor valve and dryer? Or what?

a full service of the system should fix the problem, and replacement of the evaporator \ dryer should be done.

I have a 1999 volvo s70 non-turbo 2.4 5 cyl. I bought it 1 year ago with 124k. It runs great, but the a/c cuts off when it gets over 90 degrees. At freeway speeds, it stays on (until it gets around 100...

There have been a lot of problems with the compressor cutting out when it gets hot. When the A/C begins to blow warm, check the power supply wire to the compressor. If there is power in the wire, you will most likely have to replace the compressor. If there is no power, you will have to trace it back to see what the problem is (a wiring diagram will help greatly).

Air on my 1998 s70 is warm air out of vents with ac on.but lines under hood and evap ice cold why

Sounds like the AC system is overcharged. You will have to go somewhere and have the system evacuated and recharged to get the right level.

A/C only works while I am driving

This is a characteristic of R-134a. The cooling efficiency at idle has improved slightly over the years with design changes to the hardware but performance still lags that of R-12.

Due to small size radiators and thus reduced coolant capacity in use in nearly all vehicles today, most manufacturers program the pcm to turn the cooling fan on when it sees an a/c "on" signal. This is to prevent overheating of your vehicle as well as keep air moving across the a/c condenser to improve cooling efficiency as much as possible.

While definitely frustrating, the symptoms you describe are not unusual.
