I had the same thing happen. It was a bad acceleration sensor. Took it to the dealer and they fixed it under warranty.

If you have an Autozone in the area, get them to see if you have any codes stored in your computer. There may be a code that will give you some idea. Otherwise, if everything is fine now, you may have to wait for it to happen again!

P228C, it has applied exclusively to diesel powered vehicles. It has also meant that the powertrain control module (PCM) had detected a low voltage signal from the control circuit of the electronic fuel pressure regulator, which reflected insufficient fuel pressure.

I had just got on the highway in my 2001 GMC Yukon Denali when all the sudden it would not accelerate Once I pulled over and tried to restart the truck though it would start it would not accelerate...

It sounds like a Mass Air Flow sensor or a Throttle Position sensor.BUT you will have to get a scan and find out what the check engine light is all about and related engine codes to attempt to fix this. This would be my first step. Good luck

Engine light

Make sure that the gas cap is seated properly and screwed all the way on. Some autos can detect tank pressure, and if it is low, the warning light comes on.

An orange warning light shaped like an engine has come on what does it mean

Engine warning light

eng_man_light_72.jpg Illuminates when the ignition is switched on. It should extinguish as soon as the engine starts.
If it illuminates with the engine running, it indicates a malfunction with the engine management system. Have this checked as soon as possible.
If it flashes when driving, reduce the vehicle speed immediately until the light illuminates constantly. If it continues to flash, avoid heavy acceleration and high engine speed, stop the vehicle and have it checked immediately.
On some vehicles this light may be red - again stop the vehicle and seek assistance.
If it is safe to do so, try stopping the vehicle, switching off the engine, wait two minutes, then restarting the engine to reset the engine management system.
With the light illuminated, the vehicle is still safe to drive as long as no other faults are apparent with the engine. Have the vehicle checked by a dealer or garage as soon as possible to avoid any damage being caused to the catalytic converter
