Unable to find anything either. You may need to find a complete used car, sold for spares and swap engines.
Here's an example of what I'm thinking;

SOURCE: 98 Saturn sc1 timing chain noise
need to have a shop fix it asap.if the chain breaks or skips timing your entire could possibly need to be replaced.replacing a serpentine belt tensioner is fairly cheap and easy
SOURCE: timing belt or timing chain?
You 98 Corolla has a timing chain that it internal and need no normal maintenance. It uses a hydraulic/spring tensioner to keep things tight and as long as its quiet, everything is fine.
Your drive belt (not to be confused with a t. belt) is the external belt you see on the passenger side of the engine. It drives you alt, water pump, A/C and power steering. It uses a spring loaded tensioner to keep the belt tight. These can weaken over time and cause a rattle noise and belt slippage.
SOURCE: How do i change timing chain chain guide and
first of all take out tappet pan cover,turn engine clockwise until #1camshaft are closed(intake and exhaust lobe are opposite each other)on the crank shaft pulley there is a little cut it should line up on the front plate 0 if not the pulley damper is off just make sure #1 camshaft lobes are closed. now on the realease the two tensioner bolt on cylinder head (tensioner located above deisel pump on the cylinder head) take it out unbolt front plate pull sprocket out ,chain unbolt guide. now when putting back chain all slack to go on tensioner side .when you take the tensioner in your hand there is somthing holding back the teeth press with fingers and push the teeth inn hook it with hook now put on tensioner turn engine 1revulusion to see spining free
SOURCE: timing chain broke on my 96 cavalier 2.2 ohv.
If the chain broke while the engine was running, and I presume it did, it is possible that you may have damaged the valves. When the chain breaks the cam shaft stops moving and the valves stay in their last position. The pistons continue to move until the engine comes to a stop. An open valve can be hit by a piston, sometimes breaking the valve or just bending the shaft. Also you have to be sure the new chain has the cam shaft and crank shaft properly timed. As I understand that that engine does not have timing marks on the chain sprockets. To test for damaged valves, remove the spark plugs and test the compression in each cylinder by cranking the engine while holding the compression gage in the spark plug hole. All the cylinder should have the same pressure within about 15 psi. A cylinder with damaged valves will not have any compression pressure. If you are unsure about the valve timing check into how that engine is timed. I don't have that information but if is out of time it has a very major effect on the engine performance and idle. I hope this gives you a place to start looking for the cause of the mis. Good luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.
