On 1980 and later models, both the turn signal flasher and the hazard flasher are located at the lower left hand and the upper right hand corners of the fuse block respectively. Remove these by pulling them from their connectors.
The lower dash panel may have to be removed to gain access to the unit.
I would think any 2 door GM car of similar or near same year would be the same. Possibly even from a 4 door. Very likely they may all use the same part to keep costs down. You'd just have to check after removing one.
It sounds like it is the wiring harness for the dash. You will have to take the dash out very carefully clean the contacts on the harness with electrical cleaner and then reinstall.
The other screws are behind the woodgrain panels on either side of the speedometer cluster. The panels are held in place with metal clips and are difficult to pry loose. I did it by using a small plastic wedge that I found in a junk pile and once I had a place to start, I worked each corner of both panels until pried out. These panels could break, so go slow and be patient.
