I also have a cadillac cts 2004. The theft system has locked up. It wont do anything. My key is stuck in the ignition. I tried the door thing it did not work.
To get the key out; look under the steering wheel for a plastic flat head screw. untwist it and then push the spring in and your key will be free. Then, go to your fuse box and remove the main fuses and you will hear the doors unlock when the system reset itself. Plug them back in and start your car.
This just happened to me... seems the only things that were working were the navigation screen, headlights, fog lights, and reading light on the inside. Dash board was all dark except the engine light.
Ignition switch has to be replaced, this has happened on multiple chevy products. its the only way to get the key out is to actually replace the switch

The key stuck in the ignition is either a bad lock cylinder or more than likely a bad ECM. I have the same problem but replaced the lock cylinder and new key, that changed nothing. If your Anti Theft light is on and traction control, no gas gauge nor temp gauge, ECM. More and more will quit working or go crazy in time until there is no power anywhere
If your theft light is on and stays on after the key is in the on position after self check, then you will most definitely have a no start condition. You can try leaving the key on for about 15 minutes to see if the theft system will reset. If so, you will probably need to have the lock cylinder and halo replaced.
2005 CTS 3.6 Dead battery, key stuck, service anti theft and nothing happens when you turn key, Ttried everything, ECM reset, key memory reset, charged battery to 12.7 volts, locked door w remote and opened w key, anyway you get the idea. After 3 days of online reading and trying, THIS IS WHAT WORKED, 1. put key into on position 2. removed sarter relay from front fuse panel 3. jumped 1st pin closest to fender and passenger seat with pin that is closest to motor and front fender. I used a paper clip and just made contact long enough for car to start. ran car for five minutes and took key out and everything went back to normal. then I took car to advance auto parts to have engine light reset. if car does not go back to normal you have ECM (car computer) failure. video on YouTube under "no crank, no start"
If the steering will lock is on take pressure off the lock by turning the steering wheel one way or the other. Otherwise if it just jams up oil the hole where the key goes then this will help the tumblers from getting stuck. Next would be have a new key made. If that doesn't do it replace the lock. Good luck.
STARTING DISABLED REMOVE KEY
Refer to Theft Systems Description and Operation in Theft Deterrent
STARTING DISABLED REMOVE KEY
The radio illuminates the STARTING DISABLED REMOVE KEY message when the VTD system has disabled the starting system. The radio receives a message from the theft deterrent control module via the serial data circuit requesting illumination.
Your best bet ,take it to Cadillac dealer and have it checked . Could have DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes

The theft deterrent module or the insturment cluster or the ECM is not seeing correct info.
The vehicle theft deterrent (VTD) system functions are provided by the theft deterrent control module. When an ignition key is inserted into the ignition lock cylinder and the ignition is switched ON, the transponder embedded in the head of the key is energized by the exciter coils surrounding the ignition lock cylinder. The energized transponder transmits a signal that contains its unique value, which is received by the theft deterrent control module. The theft deterrent control module then compares this value to a value stored in memory, learned key code. If the value is correct the theft deterrent control module sends a random generated number to the transponder, this is called a challenge. Both the transponder and the theft deterrent control module perform a calculation on the challenge, if the calculations match the theft deterrent control module sends the fuel continue password via the serial data circuit to the Engine control module (ECM). If either the transponders unique value or the calculation to the challenge is incorrect the theft deterrent control module will send the fuel disable password to the ECM via the serial data circuit. The components of the VTD system are as follows:
• Theft deterrent control module
• Engine control module (ECM)
• Ignition key (Transponder)
• Ignition lock cylinder
• Security indicator
remove pos cable from batterie it will then release the key and might reset the antitheft
also if the car has antitheft and is under repo they might have locked you out of the car and it will not start untill they release it
