Hi....I have a 2005 Dadoge Caravan. Our airbag light recently went on and I brought it in to our local dealer who said that the drivers side "pretensioner" was worn and needed to be replaced. The cost was $520. When I got back in the car the airbag light was off and the dirvers side seatbelt had been adjusted. I have a couple questions:
Will the airbag now deploy since the airbag light is off?
Could the problem have possibly been resolved with the seatbelt adjustment?
There is a recall on the airbag sensor call dealer
No, the pre tensioner goes bad(I say your probably have over 100,000 miles on this car), and it is a problem with dodge caravans, plymouth voyagers. You need to check the chrysler web site for recalls on caravans. this may have been on there,
If the light is off it will not deploy unless the all parametiers meet all condtions, and no the adusjtment is a proccedure to be sure it is safe. In order for the air bag to deploy it requires the accelarometer to have hit at the exact speed to arm the air bag computer and all condtions have to be met for it to deploy.
