I have a 1995 Nissan Maxima that will start when Jumped but won't start on it's own. We checked the voltage and when hooked up to the battery with no cables it reads fine but as soon as the cables are connected there seems to be a draw. We removed the starter today so we can go get it tested. Is there a possibility that the starter is drawing down the battery? Also i've bought 2 batteries for this car and they have been dead the next day each time

There was an amp in the trunk but we took that off today...we started it with a jump it ran for awhile with no issues but just wouldn't restart

Hmmm, I would have the output of the alternator checked, if you have a voltmeter you could check the voltage at the battery with the engine running.Set the meter to read DC Voltage 100 VDC Scale with Red lead on plus and Black lead on negative ,the voltage at the battery should be close to 15 volts, the alternator has to be putting out more than +12 volts DC in order to keep the battery charged. IF it's reading 12 volts or less the alternator is the problem. If this isn't it then you have a short somewhere in the vehicle's wiring that is draining the battery.

I have a 1995 nissan maxima, how do I go by resetting the engine light? I tried disconnecting the battery,is there anything else I can do?

I'M ASSUMING U DISCONNECTED THE NEG. TERMINAL AND THEN WAITED A FEW SECONDS BEFORE HOOKING IT UP. TRY ALSO REMOVING THE GAS CAP AND THEN REINSTALLING IT TIGHTLY.

Car: Nissan Maxima SE 1997 tachometer broken

the dash voltage egulator probably went bad. First, check the battery & make sure you have 12 volts, not running. Check it again running & you should see about 14.5 volts. If that's good,I'd replace the guage assembly.

this is caused by a defective starter solenoid, the solenoid is part of the starter.

Check your battery terminals, if they're corroded replace them. That did it when I was having this problem.
