You have a cd driver error and it needs to be repaired or replaced. repairing it is cheaper, and the cheapest solution, Our shop repairs these unit on a regular basis. If you replace it with another factory unit you will have to have it programed at the dealer for it to work. Aftermarket radio will require some skill o install. modules and accessories will need to be purchased. Not sure where you are but our shop is in Oshawa Ontario.

HI lisasmith566 IT is not a fuse problem .
the problem is your the CD part of the radio
must likely the cd is stock or more likely the cd drive motor is defective .
FIRST try pushing eject on radio and see CD comes out if not you need a new radio .

Cd player shows "err" when attempting to play cd

Remove the fuse to your radio or disconnect the battery for 1 min, once reconnected. This should reset the radio again, if it does not reset the radio. Your going to have get your radio re-booted at the dealer if it's a soft wear issue and if it's a mechanical issue. The Tech2 scanner will indicate that when trying to re boot the radio.

Delco factory Radio/CD player,it gives an err msg.and ejects CD

The laser in the cd player may be dirty or has gone bad and can no longer read the disc.

1999 Chevy Lumina won't play any CD, display reads 'ERR'

Hi:
Unfortunately, the ERR is a disk read error, and usually caused by the laser being out of alignment. It seems in my experience that An aftermarket deck is a cheaper solution than having it repaired.

More than likely just dust in there. I had one that i had to blow in all the time to get it to work, but you can buy cleaners most anywhere, and that's probably the best first thing to do.

My CD Player did the same. It showed an "ERR" message when trying to detect the beginning of a CD. I thought that the CD was dirty and wiped it down. Then I discovered that the player would detect the CD when the car was idle, but not when the car was in motion. Maybe the laser is THAT sensitive. Hope this works for you.

maybe you are using a burned disc from computer and if its a factory cd player sometimes they dont read it try an original see if it says the same thing.

2002 Silverado- CD played ERR message

This is not a fuse problem, it may be a dirty laser lens or a broken loading mechanism, buy a CD player cleaner disk, if that won't work you will have to pull the unit out and send it in for repair at an authorized GM electronics repair station.
