Cadillac Mechanics, Please Help! I go crazy with no start no cranck on my cadillac CTS 2004 3.6 V6. I leave in Europe Georgia, Tbilisi and we don't have Cadillac dealer and service center.

My problem is: no start no cranck, key stuck in ignition, fuel gauge not work, parking position light not work sometimes in this time. I can only start engine from starter relay manually i remove starter relay and start engine from there. I ordered re-manufactured and programmed ECM, but I cannot do key relearn procedure. so, now i think, it was not ecm problem. New ECM is programmed with my VIN, but Key relearn procedure can not be done. I am sure, you send me good ECM and can you please answer me following 2 questions: 1. i have new remanufactured ECM, prgrammed with my VIN, but key relearn procedure can not be done. What can be reason of this? when i install new ecm and begin key relearn procedure, when i turn the ignition to the on Position, The security light must illuminate steady or flash at least 10 minutes, but it turns off after 5 seconds and comes again after 1 mninute and turns no more off. this must be first step to key relearn and it can not be done. What can be reason of this? i am sure, new ECM is absolutely OK. 2. My problem was no start no crank problem and many mechanics told me, problem is ECM. Thats, why i ordered new ECM from you. Now i think, maybe it was not ECMs problem and can you please help me - i want first be sure, that its ECM or not. So, with old ECM, when motor is running at least 30 minutes, car starts normally with the key - even if you try 20 times. only after some hours staying off, problem comes again. So, can you maybe tell me, what happends? thats because i still think, its not ECM-s problem...

Old problem with cars, starter motor not cooperating after a drive.
Would be the neutral safety switch misaligned or needs replacing if it hasn't been checked already.
The exhaust would heat up the starter, solenoid, wire connection terminals. A heat shield on the starter and checking for tight connections.

SOURCE: 2003 Saturn Ion -just replace

Greetings,
Does the key have a chip in it? If it does, read the resistance accross both sides of the key chip on the 20k scale, buy a 96 cent pack of resistors from Radio Shack, and solder together a set of them that equals near 2% variance of what the key reads, shrink wrap them, try to locate the wiring and solder this resistance set up in the wires, try to start.
Wiring diagram is needed to be sure of the colors and location of wires to be spliced.

I came accross a remedy of some who had a remote control start installed and they stated this eliminated their starting horrors.
When you turn the key to start does it crank or does it make any sort of a noise, like a clicking to the relay?
try tapping the solenoid with a long bar tried just about everything else.

SOURCE: I have a 2004 Cadilac CTS we bought a replacement

Okay, to program a key you will need two keys that are already programmed, insert one key ignition turned on and engine off, remove the key and within 10 sec insert the second key and turn ignition on with engine off, remove that key and within 10 sec insert the key to be programed. you will need to do a 30 min.relearn with only one key,you will turn ignition on with engine off and wait about 10 min until light goes out then remove the key and repeat this step when light goes out repeat step one more time then use key to start car, computer has learned all info. you will now turn off engine, insert programmed key turn key on engine off then remove the key and insert key to be programed within 10 sec.all done good day.

Cts won't start after oil change

Had the same problem. 2005 Cadillac CTS with the 3.6L V6 would not start after a oil change. I started looking for wires and stuff that might have been disconnected. That is when I realized that I had also checked the air filter. The hose from the air filter box to the intake had come slightly loose from the intake. The car would not run with an air leak at the air cleaner box box hose. Put the hose on tight and problem fixed.
