What is the minimum required thickness allowed after wear on front vented rotor/discs vw golf mk3 vr6 presently the thickness of each surface on each side of the vented disc is 6mm and are quite lipped.

Sounds like the filter may be clogged or the vent at the back of the dryer. The vent that goes to the outside of the garage or house.

I know a bit about cars but being English I don't understand about rear rotors. I am guessing it is what we call brake discs or disc brakes.
Unlikely I would have thought the actual rotors or discs would be worn to a thickness of 6mm (which would be bad news) and perhaps you are referring to the thickness of the friction material?

It is only a relatively small percentage of braking effort that is exerted by the rear brakes so the rate of wear is much lower than the front brakes so it isn't unusual to discover new friction material isn't much thicker than about 8mm, though many are thicker and some are as thick as those at the front.

It is a general rule that is adopted by most brake and car manufacturer that replacement of friction material or disc pads is not required until there is only 3mm left and I have seen manufacturer's recommendations saying 2mm.
With 6mm of friction material still remaining which is two or three times the recommended minimum there would be no grounds to refuse certification.

Take your car to the service shop and the guy in the greasy overalls will ask himself if 6mm will last you until your next visit and if he is honest he will replace only after asking you what sort of mileage you cover. If he is normal he will grab the extra profit with both hands...

Brake Disc (Rotor) REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

1. Raise and safely support the front of the truck with jackstands. Remove the front wheel.
2. Remove the caliper assembly and support it to the frame with a piece of wire without disconnecting the brake fluid hose.
3. Remove the hub and rotor assembly.
4. Install the rotor in the reverse order of removal, and adjust the wheel bearing as outlined in Section 1.

INSPECTION If the rotor is deeply scarred or has shallow cracks, it may be refinished on a disc brake rotor lathe. Also, if the lateral run-out exceeds 0.010 in. (0.25mm) within a 6 in. (152mm) radius when measured with a dial indicator, with the stylus 1 in. (25mm) in from the edge of the rotor, the rotor should be refinished or replaced. A maximum of 0.020 in. (0.5mm) of material may be removed equally from each friction surface of the rotor. If the damage cannot be corrected when the rotor has been machined to the minimum thickness shown on the rotor, it should be replaced. The finished braking surfaces of the rotor must be parallel within 0.007 in. (0.178mm) and lateral run-out must not be more than 0.003 in. (0.076mm) on the inboard surface in a 5 in. (127mm) radius. * All brake rotors have a discard dimension cast into them. Replace any rotor that does not meet this Specification. After refinishing the rotor, replace any rotor that does not meet the minimum or discard thickness specifications.

I don't know where your leak is happening but I suspect the transmission fluid attacks rubber and may be leaking from the heater because of softened hoses.
I think the first move I would make is to buy a Haynes or Chilton service manual and spend some time researching how the transmission and cooling systems are related. The books are available at auto parts stores (or on line of course) and cost between $17-$30 US.
