    relay or fuse

It sounds like electrical arcing is overheating the relay and causing it to fail. Have you thoroughly cleaned (emery board, electrical contact cleaner spray) all relevant connectors and replaced damaged ones? Charlie

COOLANT FAN MOTOR COULD HAVE A SHORT IN IT.I SEEN ELECTRIC MOTORS WHERE THE FIELD WINDING OR ARMATURE WINDING SHORT TO GROUND WILL BLOW A FUSE.

The computer gets a signal from the engine temp sensor that the fan is needed, and grounds the fan relay to provide power to the fan.

Whats causes the cooling fan relay to keep blowing?

it could be the wiring between the relay and fan shorted somewhere, or the fan may be shorted, try unplugging the fan and applying power and ground direct to it, if the fan works fine, look for a shorted wire, note the wire can short inside its plastic cover

2001 Jeep Grand cherokee cooling fan runs on

Likely your fan relay internal contacts have burned closed. Relay should be either in the power distribution center or in front of the battery.

have you checked the current with a test light? what about the temperature sensor? the fan will only come on when the temperature gets to a certain point.. try checking the temperature sensor, maybe plug came off, but you should get check engine light if that was the case. fan motor might have gone bad.

replace your cooling fan motor relay because if you dont eventually your radiator will explode and this will cause your engine block to crack and then if your fan isn't blowing the engine will continue to overheat and the engine will seize and then you need a new engine. A cooling fan motor relay is around $30.
