Does your car have the factory fuel cap? These can be very specific, as for venting fumes away from the tank , may be a good place to start.

Thank you for helping,, it's solved by washing the top filling area.

Check fuel canister and valves to see if there is a malfunction. A scanner will help with the solenoids. Make sure there are no leaks in the hoses.

  • jalal Jul 11, 2019

Scanner shows no errors, no leakage seen, do you have a good way to check the fuel canister?

SOURCE: smelling gas fumes in car after fuel pump was replaced

it is likely that the access plate that the pump is under is not sealed, most likely the O ring seal got installed wrong or cut and gas is leaking by it, not enough to drip on the ground but enough to smell.

SOURCE: 2005 impala smells like fuel at start up and while

its your fuel pressure regulator. pain in the rear to change. its the small brass looking thing next to the throttle with a vacuum line going to it . the part cost me 50$ and i paid a guy $ 75 to put it in. worth every penny. looks easy to change yourself, but not as easy as it looks.

Evap emmission,control sys leak

Do not top off your gas tank. The gas is going into carbon canister which is only for fuel vapors to go into (carbon canister opening near the top of fuel neck near the gas cap). Your flooding the fuel vapor canister with liquid fuel; of course you are going to get a sensor message... 'Evap emmission, control sys leak

P0443 The fuel vapor canister reduces that gas smell on hot days outside/inside of car. The fuel vapor canister fillers bad smells from gas tank on hot days when the gas expands and burps fumes through carbon canister filter. From the canister (gas vapor fumes) goes back into the engine to be burned again...it's a closed loop for vapors to be recycled though engine. Don't worry, once the carbon canister dries out and no longer flooded with raw fuel the code should go away...just don't let the top off fuel tank back flow into the 'Evap emission control' carbon filter near the top and close to the gas cap...:)

Put a new in tank fuel pump in 3 days ago in my hyundai accent, but can smell petrol inside the car.

I would double check that your fuel tank is sealed. Fuel fumes can be very bad for your health and can be very dangerous. Sounds as though the gas line may be leaking, or the fuel pump seal is leaking.

I am smelling gas but see no gas leaking

Is your check engine light on? Fumes rise, so if the leak is in the top of the tank or the filler neck, this would allow the fumes to escape, smelling of gas, and tripping your check engine light.

Fuel Odor on a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The evap system ( fuel vapor recovery system ) , if there is a leaky hose, can let fumes out that can be detected in the cab. If you "top off" the fuel at the pump you can spill fuel into the charcoal canister meant for fuel vapors only. the vapor recovery system is behind the left rear tire.

Usually if there is a hose leak a check engine light will come on.

If you TOP OFF, don't. If you don't, good. Hope this helps.
