Toyota 4Runner/maintenance schedule at 140K miles

Hi.

I have a 2000 4Runner with 140K miles -- is it necessary to follow the maintenance schedule to service the car?

Or, is a regular oil/filter change all that it needs?

Thank you.

The maintenance schedule is an outline and should be followed if you want to keep your vehicle in good condition. the maintenance items listed in the schedule are performed at their set intervals for a reason. Manufacturers have found the wear limits on certain parts and those parts may need to be serviced or replaced at those intervals or catastrophic failures may result.

2004 Toyota 4Runner. Why does it make a humming noise when driving?

Check the transmission fluid level, but it is more likely a wheel bearing failing, although that is normally described as a whine. A garage can put microphones on all 4 wheel arches, next to the transmission and engine and track the noise whilst driving.

How often to change tranmission fluid on a 2002 lincoln ls

Hi Gary,

There is a small dilema here. The Owner's Manual for your Lincoln says to refer to the Maintenance schedule to find the proper interval for replacing your transmission fluid. Here is where the problem arises: The Maintenance schedule published for your vehicle says to replace the transmission fluid at 30,000 mile intervals for several transmission models. Then it "excepts" the models that are not lsted by transmission model number in the preceeding text - yours is not listed.

Then, when I go to the service manual and search by your vehicle (2000 Lincoln LS) it says to replace the transmission fluid at 30,000 mile intervals without any exceptions.

Here is what I recommend to my customers:

CHECK the fluid every 30,000 miles and REPLACE the fluid and filter every 60,000 miles. I have found that this works for almost every make and model out there. I have several customers with over 300,000 miles on their cars that have never had transmission overhauls.

1999 toyota 4runner, 140K miles: for 2 weeks, have problem starting when cold in morning. takes 3-4 clicks and foot on gas pedal to start. now also problem starting when warm after driving for 30mins....

Sounds like a sticky throttle if you can't keep idle. It won't hurt to try.... you can try a quick cheap trick by spraying a little carbon remover (buy at any auto store i.e. autozone, oreiley's) inside the throttle, open the valve, spray just small amount, close it back up and rev it a few times and repeat. It removes the carbon film after long use. fixed my idle issue in my cars. If its really bad you might have to clean it thoroughly but i highly doubt you have to do that.

Not really a problem - I bought the 2000 Altima with 145,000 miles. Running great. But, are there any maintenance logs with the various servicing schedules/components/time intervals available for that...

You create your own with all your vehicles

Treat them all the same & keep a log book

You should be doing a lot more than anything
out there especially MFG Scheduled Maint
Follow that alone you will break down

My 2000 T 4Runner has 200,000 miles on it. Should I start looking for a newer one? It still runs very well, although it's had a few problems. Is $16,000 a good price for 2004 4Runner V8 with 90,000 miles...

It is really your choice but your 4Runner is capable of allot more miles with good maintenance. If your looking to save money the V8 4Runner in not a good option.

99 4runner V6 timing belt replacement at HOW many miles? I bought a used vehicle with 137,000 miles and owner says he did not have the belt replaced. My mechanic says a good idea, but Toyota schedule does...

I have a 97 and also did not find a recommendation in the manual. I found through a Toyota machanic frien that it should be done at 100,000 miles and I did it. You don't want the belt to slip or break so do it now for peace of mind and to avoid a major engine repair bill. Hope this helps. You might want to do the water pump, tensioner and belt rollers at the same time.

Call or stop by any dealer, they'll be more than happy to photo copy one for you. You might invest in a Haynes or Clymers manual available from Amazon.com or any good parts store

2007 Toyota 4 runner transmission filter and fluid change??

at 50,000 miles there is really no need. i would wait and save up that money and do a transmission flush 7- 10 quarts of toyota f-type fluid can be costly but a flush removes all of the fluid and garnish along with any fine shavings (normal wear and tear) out of the tranny and replaces it with new clean fluid. normal intervals would be at about 80-100,000 miles. you should be able to find preventative maintenance schedules in your owners manual. if not any repair facility would have it on their computer.

Looking for a regular maintenance schedule

there is no regular service for the diff, the only time you need to do anything with it is if it is torn down for service.
