The O2 sensor is most likely the issue. Also, try cleaning the Throttle Body Injector with cauberator cleaner or tbi injector. Build up within the TBI may be causing a gas deficiency which causes it to run lean. If that doesn't help, try running a higher octane fuel, about 93 octane minimum. This will causes ANY debree in the injectors to be cleared.
PO 134 = 02 SENSOR CIRCUIT NO ACTIVITY DETECTED (BANK 1 SENSOR1)
PO 153 =02 SENSOR CIRCUIT SLOW RESPONSE (BANK 2 SENSOR 1)
PO 154 =02 SENSOR CIRCUIT NO ACTIVITY DETECTED (BANK 2 SENSOR 1)
PO 155= 02 SENSOR HEATER CIRCUIT MALFUNCTION (BANK 2 SENSOR 1)
PO 171= SYSTEM TOO LEAN (BANK 1)
PO 174= SYSTEM TOO LEAN (BANK 2)
I WOULD SAY YOU HAVE FAULTY OXYGEN SENSORS CAUSING THE ENGINE TO RUN TOO LEAN REPLACE THEM AND YOU SHOULD BE BACK IN BUISNESS
The EPC (Electronic Pedal Control) is the "fly by wire" system that
controls the throttle, it took the place of the cable that went from the
gas pedal to the throttle body on VW. If this light is on and there is
also a P0102, MAF (Mass Air Flow) related code stored in the vehicle's
computer, the EPC may be caused indirectly from a faulty MAF. If the
EPC is on and there is no other codes stored, it could be a faulty
electronic throttle body or need to be re-programmed. The vehicle's
computer must recognoze the throttle body so when replacing it with new
or used it will need to be programmed at the dealer. Recently I replaced
a MAF (a common problem on VW's) on a VW Golf and when I cleared the
code the EPC went off as well.
Honestly it is not very expensive to replace, but it is not extremely important. What it does is measure the oxygen/fuel level coming out of the engine. This tells the computer that the engine is either using the right air/fuel mixture or allows the computer to change the mixture slightly to allow the car to run properly. You could pull the sensor out and clean the terminal as it usually has alot of carbon build up due to its location, but this is normally a temporary fix. I hope this helps you with your problem.
what tha generally means is your o2 sensor is throwing a fault code. this is mostliely due to the fact that your TPS (throttle postion sensor) is not functioning properly. this is why there is also a rough idle to the vehicle. have the TPS replaced and the problem will be solved.
