I have a 1.8tdci ford cmax titanium on a 07 plate, dne about 24000 miles, whilst driving the car loses power changing from 1st gear to 2nd gear high rev's, also whilst sitting in neutral an foot on gas black smoke comes out exhaust not thick black.
Hi, the problem you are having is going to be with the turbo you will probably find one of the hoses going to the turbo has either come off or has a split in it.
It can be hard to find the split but this is the most likely cause of the problem.
As the car is losing power at high revs then this indicates that either the turbo itself has failed or it could just mean that their is a split in one of the hoses.
A split hose is the most likely cause you will need to inspect every part of all the hoses connected to the turbo. When these pipes get a split they dont then have the correct pressure for the turbo to work at best running conditions this is the smoke your seeing out the back.
a good way to check this is by the amount of oil in the car if your regular topping it up then this would mean looking deeper into the engine to find out why oil is getting into the cylinders but if you are not topping the oil up then this would mean their is no fault with the engine.
So have a good look around the turbo pipes give them a good squeeze the split might only tiny but that is all it takes to cause the problem your having.
If you are unsure at what to look for then its best left to a garage as they would have a good idea where the fault would most likely be.
Let me know if you need further assistance ok.
