Depends on the type of fuel injection on the motor... on the CSEFI injector assembly the regulator is located under the air intake plenum on the back of the fuel meter body

1997 chevy astro van willn't start new fuel pump and filter pressure 50 to 60 psi ,got spark turns over

If you have spark and fuel it should start. You must have min 57 PSI fuel pressure for this vehicle to start if it is the 4.3 Vortec engine. Also the cam sensor and the crank sensor control the spark. Does it have the check engine light on and if so what is the code or codes does it have? Need more info to help you out more.

1997 astro 4.3 vortec v6 fuel pressure problem. The fuel pump works for about 2-3 seconds when i turn on the key and it works when i crank the engine but i do not have anything close to 50 lbs of pressure...

Hello frankdoiron: My name is Roger and I will help you. If the fuel pressure is not 60-66 psi. the engine will not run right or will no start. At 55 psi. the engine will not start. Unless you have a injector that is stuck open I would look at the fuel pump as the problem. I would also change the fuel filter the same time you replaced the fuel pump. The warranty on the pump would be void if you do not replace it at the same time.

Fuel pump pressure

Try loosening the gas cap and see if that helps. Today's cars have no vents on the tank that don't have something to regulate the amount of ventilation. One of these systems may have failed. Loosening the cap stops a vapor lock.

If that doesn't do it, suspect a fuel pump regulator. Get a fuel pressure tester and see what delivery you have. Should be about 50 psi. Too low means weak pump or too much bypass. Bypass is regulated by the regulator.
