Make sure your Dakota actually has a leak detection pump (LDP). Midway through the 2004 production year, they changed to a Natural Vacuum Leak Detection (NVLD) system. If your PCM (engine computer) has three large connectors, you have the LDP. If it has four large connectors, you have the NVLD.
In 2003, the LDP was located behind and below the battery, under the electrical box with all the fuses and relays. With the NVLD system, the NVLD pump is located on top of the fuel tank, attached to the evaporative emissions canister, accessible by removing the left rear wheel and plastic inner fender liner.

Although I recommend you buy a Haynes service manual for your Dodge, I think you will find the canister attached to the firewall or one of the fender wells.
Most of them look a lot like an overgrown spam can and it will have two connections on it.

check gas cap and make sure on good, if possible find another one to try on car to see if that works clear codes before trying(take neg cable off battery for approx ten minute) or might have leak in vaccume line or canister

check ur gas cap for tight and proper seal that is the most common problem for the the evap codes if cap is good check fuel and vent lines for damage or leaks from gas cap under vehicle up to engine compartment

The best way to find these leaks in these systems now adays, is to take it somewhere that does smoke tests. What they do is inject smoke into the system and if there is any little leak the smoke will come out of it pin pointing the leak. There might be a pin hole in one of the vaccum lines, or the plastic casing on top of the evaporative purge valve could be cracked. The smoke test will find it.
