A battery waring ligth is not telling you that the battery is defective, it is telling u that the battery is not being charged by the alternator, have the battery and alternator tested to determine th4e cause, a failing battery many times can damage the alternator as it causes it to overheat, so if the alternator is in need of replacing then it is very important that the battery be fully charged and tedsted prior to installing a new alternator if indeed that is the final diagnosis.

think u hav a bad cable from the alternator to the batt--they wear and gain resistence eating up alternators--its the red cable used to charge batt--some mechaanics just add anothr wire beside the old and it works--hav a honest guy test the old wire

I have a 2006 mazda tribute , i replaced the altinator a week ago because the dash lights and headlamps were blinking on and off. replaced the altinator and it was good for a week.... now it is happen

Check for voltage at the battery with the engine running. If you have around or more than 14 volts than the alternator is working. If the vehicle starts with a jump and continues to run without starting than the alternator is doing its job. You likely need a new battery. Most auto parts store will check it for free. If the battery is bad replacing it sooner rather than later will be the best choice.

2006 mazda tribute. The battery has been replaced and the alternator is not putting out quite the correct voltage but isn't really bad yet I don't think. It's will start ok for 4 or 5 days

Your going to need to replace the alternator, it may be charging the battery slightly and enough to get through a few days of starting the vehicle, but you will need to get the alternator replaced.

Electricall problem w/2002 V6 mazda tribute

When that light comes on, it is indicating charging system problem which could mean alternator not charging for one reason or another like loose belt, faulty alternator, or yes, bad battery or connection at battery, for example. First & easiest thing to do is check all your connections to battery, which you've probably done, and make sure they're tight & clean. Make sure belt driving alternator is good & tight, and in good shape. Now boost the vehicle to get it going & test voltage at battery, after you take cables off. My guess is in your case, the voltage will begin to go down, indicating a bad alternator, that will need to be replaced.
