My 91 prk ave has power going to the radio and heater controls, but nothing works, except the rear window defroster which won't stop working. Is it the little black box under the right hand dash causing all this?, or am I missing something?

It sounds like you don't have a ground going to those areas. I think I would check for a ground...maybe pull the fuse on the rear defroster and see if it is even a part of the problem.

2001 monte Carlo, Ihave 12 volts coming into the little module about 8" below the terminals that connects to the rear defroster. Its behind the panel by rear window. Also connected to this black box...

The componet is Radio Antenna Module . There is B+ voltage going in on the drak green wire . One of the wire's connect's to the rear window defogger grid , this should have B+ voltage . One of the other wires is the Ant. in the window glass . The last one goes to the radio . Look's like inside the module is a resistor , not a rheostat ! Can't think why there would drop the voltage from 12 to 5 going to the defroster heater grid . What are you trying to diagnose ? Window defroster not working good ?

Need wiring diagram for rear defroster.

The common problem with the rear defrost not working on a park ave is the antenna integration modules on the rear c-pillars. This is the way they make the rear defrost and antenna part of the same grid on the rear window. If your external mirrors are heating up, the rear window is getting juice too. They are fed from the same circuit. And yes, the relay does go in a particular way. Compare it to the position of the others nearby and insert with the same orientation.

Defroster won't blow air next to windshield

My son's jeep had the same problem. The actuator that controls the the defrost damper came out. Pull the radio out of the dash to gain access to the damper. Looking into the radio hold on the right side you can just see the arm. Move the heater control switch and you can see it moving around. I put a drop of instant glue on the end and pushed back in and its been fine.

Hope this helps.
