1998 528 i BMW.Where do I begin?

I am having a hard time figuring out where to even start. I want to remove the rear passenger side door panel. Need to access the internal hardware responsible for the windows operation. Window goes down and will not go back up. Please be specific like you are talking to someone that knows absolutely nothing about BMW's, because guess what? I DON'T! =) I tried examining the perimeter of the panel but did not really see anything that I could unscrew or pop out.

Look for screws on the handle inside or under the arm rest next pop a corner of the panel away its normaly held on with door clips they are a little hard to pop off you might break a few but local dealer should have more most likely some will break if the window wont go up you probaly have a bad motor or window regulator if window goes up slow then stops its more than likely a motor possibility of having a bad window switch

there are no screws and leave the wood grain alone you will only break it first stick a screw driver between the door pannel at the top where the window comes up and pull the door pannel away from the door next pop the rest of the door pannel of the door by sticking sometheng like a wedge between then next you have to pull up on the door pannel to release a plastic center support that will hold the door pannel

I want to take apart my 1998 bmw 740iL rear passenger side door to fix the window. What is the best way of going about it?

TO REMOVE THE REAR DOOR PANEL YOU FIRST HAVE TO REMOVE THE PLUG FROM BEHIND THE DOOR HANDLE,
THEN REMOVE THE SCREW THAT IS BEHIND THE PLUG.
THEN YOU GO AROUND THE PERIMITER OF THE DOOR PANEL WITH A WEDGE AND GENTLY PRY THE PANEL OUT, IT IS HELD ON BY PUSH PINS FROM THE WOOD TRIM PANEL DOWN TO AND ALONG THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR. ONCE ALLOF THESE ARE LOOSE THEN YOU HAVE TO LIFT THE PANEL UP OUT OF THE WINDOW SILL AND OVER THE DOOR LOCK IT SET INTO A SHORT CHANNEL AROUND THE FIRST SRCEW REMOVED ALSO
ONCE YOU GET IT UP AND LOOSE BE CAREFULL AS ALL THE POWER WINDOW SWITCH AND LIGHTS ARE THERE AND NEED TO BE DISCONNECTED.

ONCE HERE GOOD LUCK I BELIEVE THAT THE FRAME WORK INSIDE THE DOOR NEED TO BE REMOVED TO GET AT THE MECHANISIUM THAT OPERATES THE WINDOW.

YOU WILL FIND A PINK PLASTIC WHEEL BROKEN AND A SHORT CABLE THAT IS PART OF THE WINDO OPERATION,

THIS AS FAR AS I GOT BEFORE I GAVE UP

GOOD LUCK

I recently purchased a used 03 Chevy Venture van. The passenger sliding door doesn't open. It worked for 1 week and stopped. The driver side sliding door has a broken handle so I'm able to open that door...

Pain but fixable. Sounds like the linkage is not connected. Even a mechanic will have to remove the door panel and fight with it. If you can remove the rear seat from the drivers side side door then you might have room to remove the passenger side door panel to fix it. Usually clips are the first thing to break on door handle/latch linkages

Passengers side window will not roll down - 323is how do i find out its the motor or switch without tearing the door apart. also, does anyone have insructions on removing panels on door to access motor?

if the motor doesn't work even from the switch from the driver's side the problem is from the motor.
to replace it you need to take out the door panel:

take out the switch with a screwdriver
by that you can get access to one of the screws that hold the panel
take out the plastic caps from the lower area of the armrest, there are some more screws
take out the plastic trim from top of panel begining from the end of panel, and unscrew the 2 more screws
it should come out after doing all that
remember to disconnect the door latch cable and speaker wiers

1997 BMW 528i The passenger side front and rear doors won't

I had the same problem on the rear door of my 1998 528i and it was the door actuator that had gone bad. I had to take the rear seat out to get the door panel off. Once I had the door panel off it was not that difficult to replace the door actuator.

Bmw 325 window regulator with motor installation

chances are, the motor is fine. the regulators break all the time though. You can install it yourself with a little common knowledge. First obtain a new regulator for the respective door from your local dealer. To begin, remove the door panel. use a small screw driver to pry off the wood trim at the top portion of the door panel starting from the rear and moving forward. then pry out the small cover by the door pull as well as the 2 covers underneath the armrest. use a T-20 torx driver to remove the 5 hidden screws. then pry the door panel off of the door being careful not to ruin the clips or tug on the wiring. set the panel aside. now you will need to remove the side airbag (if applicable)using a 10mm socket. release the locking tab on the plug by prying it up approx. 1/4 inch, and then pull the plug out of its connector. be careful not to turn the key on with this unplugged or the airbag light will be tripped on. if you must , re install the plug so that the computer can "see" it. Now remove the vapor barrier using a razor blade. be careful not to rip it. once the inside of the door is exposed you should remove the 3 T-30 torxes on the window motor. then tilt the motor out of its bracket and remove it. you may have to pry at it depending on how tight the cable tension is. Now that the regulator is left in the door you have to remove it. lift the window by hand up in the door until you can see the two 8mm screws attaching it to the regulator through the 2 rectangular slots in the regulator arms. if the window is jammed down and will not move, use a pair of **** or wire cutters to cut the cable to free it up. now remove those 2 8mm screws and push the window back and up into the door where it goes when you roll it up all the way. now remove the 5 10mm screws holding the regulator to the door. install the new regulator into the door and bolt it in place. pull the window down and install the 2 8mm screws. re install the motor, vapor barrier, and airbag. then press the door panel back onto the door and bolt it back in, and finally install all of the covers.
