I have a 2000grand prix 3800v6 belt broke replaced

Now that I think about it you will need to replace the ignition switch. You should be able to use the old cylinder lock and key.

Will the temperature sending unit make my 2000 pontiac grand prix shut off

Don't think so... I had one 2004 prix that lost it's coolant and it ran until it destroyed itself... Had another that would hit red on temp during the summer in the desert mountains. Never shut down on me though.... replaced the radiator, water pump and thermostat. My fans kick on about 3/4 of the temp gauge. Normal temp is between 1/2 & 3/4.

Motor shut down engine code po 172 bank 1 to rich

You more than likely have a blown head gasket, the engine was burning coolant and caused the o2 sensor to malfunction, you will have this problem until it is fixed. Try adding a product called BARRS LEAK to the radiator, follow the instrutions on the can.

On a 1996 grand am se when the car is cold the check oil light comes on but after its warm u shut it of and restart it goes out.whats wrong?

The oil level is probably too low, get an oil change, not only will they fill up your oil and change the filter, but if something is more seriously wrong they will bring it to your attention.
Plus an oil change is cheap insurance.

Burning oil, but dont know why

Nowdays 1 Qt. in 3000 miles, really isn't that bad, even some new vehicles claim that's normal. I know with my current vehicles, both at approx. 150,000-160,000 miles, they won't use any for first while after an oil change, but then after mileage starts adding up again, they start to use a little, approx.I Qt, every 1000 miles or so, until it's changed again. I've switched to the high mileage oil, just for piece of mind, as they say it revives seals, and has added protection for the higher mileage engines. This time around I'm thinking of adding "Lucas" & see how it works, as I've heard some pretty good reports on it, just to see if it will prolong that oil breakdown, at mid change.
