I stopped at traffic lights and car stalled.i tried restarting but it wouldnt go.on inspection we found no spark to the lead we tested number 5 cylinder.next day car started and ran long enough to move it,then following day it started again ran for about 5mintes then just stopped, now it wont start at all.i have tried it in both gasoline and lpg mode but same thing cranks but no run.i have new coil now but is this the problem or is it the sensor on the hall effect distributor?or even the map sensor?i have a 1992 eb ford falcon 4speed automatic.

Have you checked for fuel pressure ? With only 1 coil pak out, the car should start. So, start from the beginning, ... Check for spark on several plug wires. If spark, then check for fuel, is the fuel pump working? Check the breaker in the trunk, drivers side behind the panel. If still no fuel, then could be a wire short or fuse,or just the pump in the tank needs to be replaced. If you do have spark and fuel, then check the MAF sensor on the air intake. This will shut the motor down more so then the MAP. Only Ford has this part and it cost's, and once you open the box they will not take it back. Have someone, or even Ford check the MAF sensor, or check at a scrap yard for hopefully a good used one. There's more to check, including the crank sensor, but start with this. Good luck.

My van won't start after driving a short distance, it will start again after 3 to 5 minutes but then will act like it's going to stall while I'm driving. What's wrong?

Hi Greg, I'm AL the owner of Big As Auto Repair in St Charles Mo

Greg, I read your complete message, but nowhere did I see that you replaced the Cam Sensor. The EGR will cause it to stall at stops but usually will not prevent it from restarting. I would try replacing the Cam Sensor before anything else. If you should need further assistance go to my website by clicking here: Auto Repair

Jeep started died and wont restart

The cam sensor tells the ECM when to fire the plug. Might want to replace the sensor.

Engine Stall

I don't really agree with the IAC idle air control valve however, you can test it by unplugging it while the car is running; if the valve is bad (assuming no bad wires or pcm problems) the engine will not change it's sound. On the other hand if it's good the engine will sputter and have an erratic idle but probably wont die...........
A common culprit of your cars condition is often a bad crank shaft or cam shaft position sensor; for most vehicles they are easy to change and only $10 or so. There are tests that can be done to check the parts and that another topic. The crank shaft position sensor is where I would start. And, as another person said the fuel filter is a good thing to replace; could be your problem, and it probably needs it anyway. Good luck and try and keep from throwing parts at her; work the problem don't let it work you.

the crank sensor is favorite they are unreliable that explaines why the trans not getting engine speed signal unless its a manual box and that code will allways be logged advise start by checking for water ingress in engine control module located lower rh a post then change crankshaft position sensor or better still try and borrow one from a good running car

1999 Honda Odessey Van Dies/stalls in traffic, restarts in a few

Honda is notorius for bad MAIN RELAYS the solder in them crack and can not be seen with the nacked eye. This is due to simple expansion & contraction the solder heats up & cools down. Try that.
