Yes... you'll need to remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you can access the bolts holding the mirror on and disconnect the wiring harness as well..

The power window controls for my forester no longer work. Worked sporadically for a while and stopped altogether. Not hearing any motor noise. How do I remove the door panel and what should I check for?

The switches are self contained and non serviceable so the only thing to do would be to replace the switch, which unfortunately i think your problem is. However it would be a good idea to take the door panels off and check for loose connectors.

Here is a link to a Subaru Forester owners forum which you can find a wealth of info on (I own an Outback and the forums have saved my behind numerous times). You will have to sign up to view the PDF on door panel removal but its a small price to pay, and hey, it's free. Hope this helps!

Replacing passenger side mirror on a 2002 Forester.

it not too hard to do,you may be able to replace by removing the cover on the inside of door, then remove the nuts holding the mirror on, then disconnect electrical connector, you may need to pry panel back a little to get to the electrical plug, the panel pops out on that side, no need to completely remove, to remove all the way then you would need to remove the screws, but not needed, just pop loose in the area near mirror to get to plug then install new one.

Remove passenger side mirror. Ineed to replace a broken passenger side mirror. Do I need to remove the entire door panel to access the scriews holding the mirror and to access to electrical connection?

On the inside trim, you can remove screws that are by the door handle, arm rest, under door and side of door and then gently pull back on the panel as there will also be retaining clips attached and you don't want to break them. You'll need to lift the door panel upwards in order to get it off the window ledge. Then you'll need to manipulate the panel and disconnect the door handle linkage from the door handle and disconnect the wiring for your controls. Then you can access the bolts that secure the mirror onto the door

Side View Mirror Installation instructions needed

For a 2005 Honda Pilot, I am a complete Amateur and I had no problem installing this mirror.

1) Lower the window, and only remove the Interior MIRROR panel, NOT the entire DOOR Panel, as some sites my recommend.
2) Once the Interior Panel is removed, the power cable is attached to the mirror, remove this cable.
3) There are 3 Bolts that are BLACK (atleast in my vehicle) that need to be removed.
3) Once the bolts are removed, the mirror should come off easily.
4) Place the new mirror in place of the old one and secure all three bolts, and then secure the power cable.
5) Then place the interior panel back.

That is it!

I need to replace passenger side mirror on 97 ford expedition

Both above answers are not right... I just replaced the Pass side power mirror assembly on my 97 Expedition. No heat, no directional.
The inside door panel must come off.
1. pry off interior triangular plastic trim piece inside of door at mirror area. Remove door panel screw at this area.
2. Pry off power window switch panel and remove door panel screw at this area.
3.Remove interior door light cover and remove screw at this area.
4. Remove plastic cover at door handle.
5. The interior door panel can now be lifted up to release it from it's fasteners.
6. Disconnect light and push power window switch assembly through the door panel and it can be set aside.
7. Disconnect mirror power at coupler.
8 Loosen three mirror mounting screws with 7/16 socket. DO NOT unscrew completely.. the will fall down the door cavity. Use a round magnet on holder to remove the screws completely.
9.Thread electrical connection into door panel and install mirror.
10. Smile when mirror works and drink a beer!

You need power window regulator as the cable of the regulator is out its place ,

  1. Remove the gusset cover.
  2. Pull up the inner door handle cover toward you to remove the upper hook. Pull down it to remove the lower hook. Remove the inner door handle cover.
  3. Remove the power window switch assembly.
  4. Using a trim panel remover, remove the clips of the trim panel.
  5. Remove the speaker.
  6. Using a spatula, remove the door sealer.
  7. Remove the outer mirror assembly.
  8. Remove the front end of the door weatherstrip and gusset.
  9. Remove the stabilizers.
  10. Remove the rear end of the door weatherstrip (inner and outer).
  11. Operate the power windows switch so the bolts from the regular assembly are visible through the service holes. Remove the mounting nuts.
  12. Take out the door glass. CAUTIONDo not turn the regulator in closing direction after removal of the glass. Otherwise gear may be disengaged.
  13. Loosen the nuts to remove the rear sash.
  14. Disconnect the power window motor wiring harness.
  15. Loosen the four bolts and two nuts to pull out the regulator assembly.
  16. Remove the screws to remove the motor from the regulator assembly.
  17. Installation is the reverse order of removal.0759a6d.jpg23cb1e4.jpg
