2000 Hyundai Elantra gear shift stuck in Park. Car will start and runs fine. We just can't get the gear shift to move out of Park.

The workaround is: There is a little hole called the Gear Shift Override, I think, with a cover, beside the shifter (on the console). We pushed a screwdriver into the hole after we took the cap off. Next we will look at the fuses to see if one is dead. For now we use the screwdriver.

The car is stuck in park. It will move almost to reverse when I shift and then stop before getting into reverse gear

Check for the brake switch if this doesnt work wont release from park if this ok then i will check the shifter cable check for power and ground

Have a 2003 Dodge Intrepid. I can't get the shifter on the column to move out of park even when I move the steering wheel up,down & side to side. Is it the cable, the link, what?

The shifter needs to be inspected. The shifter assembly is got misaligned, it has to be open and realign.

There are many other possibilities. But if it was working right up till now and suddenly this occurred then its shifter assembly alignment issue.

Shifting when driving

The shifter needs to be inspected.If the gears are shifted automatically.The shifter assembly is got misaligned,it has to be open and realign.

There are many other possibilities.But if it was working right up till now and suddenly this auto shifting occurred then its shifter assembly realign issue.
