Battery died while parked 1995 Grand Cherokee Laredo

Went camping this weekend, and when we went to start the car to leave, the 1 year old battery was dead.

The ONLY thing different was that the t-case was left in p/t 4wd. Is there a relay or electric clutch that was energized even with the engine off?

The battery recharged just fine on the drive home, and since being in 2wd, has not drained since.

The only thing I can think is the switch or motor that engages the 4wd is draining the battery by creating a draw. The switch or motor is constantly staying on when in 4wd. I would have the system check for an electrical short or open circuit.

Good Luck

The battery died in my 95 jeep grand cherokee laredo an now it wont hold a charge

If the battery is old(2 to 2/12 years) the battery is sulfated and worn out inside. Going dead is just the nail in the coffin. Plus, a discharged battery will freeze in cold weather, allowing the ice inside to bend and break the lead plates inside, causing shorts to occur and will drain the battery after charging. If it were me, I would bring the battery somewhere warm for 8 hours, slow charge it, then have it tested. If it's more than 2 1/2 years old, I would just replace it.

2002 jeep grand Cherokee. . Went to start it up sounded like it was then just died. .. no power at all. Can't even lock the doors manually. Battery is new 6 months old.

Clean battery terminal connections (most likely a battery post corrosion problem on a 12 year old vehicle), and check the condition of your charging system (alternator and regulator).

I have a grand cherokee laredo 1995 model, it was parked for more that a year. what should i do to start it again, the previous battery was dis connected

you may need to replace the battery and put some STP gas Treatment in it and check the timing and the crank sensor give these websites a try www.alldatadiy.com and www.autozone.com if all fails stop by your local library and get your hands on a Haynes auto repair manual for your Jeep wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.

I have a 95 Grand Cherokee, its got this built-in 'kill switch' (lol) that i had to figure out - the alarm wouldn't stop going off until i put the key in the driver door, then turned it Right-Left-Right...

Your probably already aware of this nuisance, but i thought i'd post it it just in case.
