The location of the cabin filter and changing it are incredibly simple. The location is immediately behind the glove box, you open the glove box, remove the panel that comprises the rear "wall" of the box, and this exposes the filter housing beyond. There is a white, rectangular door to access the filter, just squeeze the latch on the left and pull the door, slide out the filter and viola! Mine was filthy after 2 years, 23k miles. I just vacuumed it out but will order up a new one on-line, around $15.

Replace cabin filter

Then cabin air filter is located right behind the center stack where the radio and heater controls are. It is fairly easy to get to. I changed mine myself without even taking the glove box out like it says. It's a tight fit but doable. There is small door on the passenger side of the center stack. Open that up and the filter is right behind it. There are videos on YouTube if you are unsure of where exactly it is located. It is the same for years 2007-2012. I have a 2012.

Certain smell is coming out from the air vent everytime i open the A/C.

cabin air filter is inside a compartment behind your glove box. pretty simple to fix if you can figure out how to take off your glove box door. the filter is little different than the air filter, thinner. May help to spray some Frigi-freeze or Fridgi-Fresh stuff on it to help kill bacteria. an auto parts store should have some for the a/c system.

Jaguar 2002 s type Cabin air filter - engine air intake filter

I'm not sure what the cabin filter is but the air filter is straight forward. With the hood open you should see the air box just inside on the right with the large induction hose going across and to the engine. The top of the air box should open with a couple of hooks or clamps and the air filter sits on top inside the open box.

Smell

It also helps to spray some Fridgi-Fresh or Fridgi-Freeze stuff on the cabin air filter and into the A/C condensor. It kills the odor causing bacteria. A local auto parts store should stock it. Might run you about $20 for a bottle of it.
