INTERMITENT STALLING AT SPEEDS OF 50 TO 75 MPH on my '95 FORD EXPLORER XLT 4.0 LITER 6 CYLINDER there is no sputtering or any indication prior to the stalling to let me know its going to stall. I'm just on the highway driving with foot on gas and suddenly i lose power steering and realize that my engine has shut off. I have some other things going on as well but I don't think they are related also intermitently my oil gauge acts a little spiradic but not at the same time as stalling episodes I think that is my oil sending unit. In addition to the stalling while driving down the road i stall when brake is depressed at red light and truck idles rough and rpms are up and down with idle I am certain that is from my idle air control valve which i am picking up and putting in tonight but I don't think that would make me just cut out while driving down the road and the truck thank god always starts right back up no problem , I am leaning toward an electrical problem somewher but where do I start , have you heard of this happening, can someone please hlp me out before i end up rear ended or t-boned. Thank you, Michelle

Have you checked your fuel filter or fuel pump as these can cause your engine to to shut off, but there usually is some sort of warning, but not always.

How do i stop my 1994 ford explorer from sputtering and shutting down when driving at low speed

Not getting enough fuel. There are two coolant temperature sensors one for the gauge. one for the computer. the one to the computer monitors fuel. When it fails the engine is slow to start the first try and there is a strong odor of gasoline. The engine will run rough at some speeds and sometimes stall.

Need the plug order on distributor cap on a 1994 ford explorer

Check out autozone.com. Once you register you can look up all kinds of information for your vehicle. How to information, wiring diagrams, exploded views, firing orders, diagnostic code information, etc. As far as I know the 94 explorer had a 4.0 liter with distributorless ignition. Are you sure you have a 94 explorer with a 4.0 liter engine? On the 4.0 liter the passenger side of the engine are cylinders 1-2-3 the drivers side is 4-5-6. The cylinders should be labeled on the coil pack. The passenger side of the coil pack will be cylinders 1-2-3 from front to back. The drivers side is a little tricky. From front to back it will be cylinders 5-6-4. Lt me know if you have any questions. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/repairinfo/repairguide/repairGuideContent.jsp?pageId=0996b43f802c54b3

Ignition Distributor location

There is no cap and rotor, as the vehicles igntion system is DIS (digital ignition system). The recommended tune-up on these motors require sparkplug and coil replacement. The coil type in this vehicle is COPs (coil over plugs). Usually moist and oxidation develope on the sparkplug chamber walls from faulty or worn coil boots. This causes the coil to short, they must be replaced at 75,000 miles at the same time the sparkplugs are replaced. Typical symtoms are: Vehicle stalls (restarts and runs normal), intermitted jerks/sputter while driving, misfires, rough idle, severe power loss. Hopefully this helps
