Look underneath the dash and find the connection from the brake booster to the top of the brake pedal. Take off the clip that holds the pedal to the linkage with your hands. Unbolt the brake booster from the firewall with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket.Unbolt the master cylinder from the booster with an open-end wrench. Pull the master cylinder off of the booster, then pull the vacuum line off of the brake booster. Take the booster away from the engine bay and discard it.Install the replacement booster onto the Suburban and bolt it in place with the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket. Reconnect the brake pedal to the brake booster with the factory clip.Mount the master cylinder on the booster with the open-end wrench and the factory bolts. Plug the vacuum line into the check valve on the replacement booster. Pump the brakes several times with your foot with the engine running to verify that the booster builds vacuum.

Chevy Suburban 1500 -- Battery Not Charging Light....Replaced Alternator....Still had battery not charging light....Replaced battery....Still have battery not charging light...also first time seen service...

Make sure that you buy a 'lifetime' warranted alternator from your parts source to avoid problems with bad alternators out of the box. I would try to return and exchange the alternator with one that tests out ok on a bench, in order to verify if the wiring in between the alternator or the alternator itself was bad.

Service brake booster would have to do with the vacuum or power booster problem around the master cylinder for the braking system. That wouldn't have anything to do with the alternator, I do not believe.

Good luck on these repairs.

How do I get the brake power booster off of a 1500 98 chevy truck

The power brake booster is fastened to the firewall with studs and nuts that are located up under the dash. You'll need to remove the master cylinder first, then locate the studs and nuts which are on either side of the brake pedal arm. Use a deep socket to remove the nuts, then pull the booster from the firewall.

Have a 1998 Chevy 1500. Brakes work but not well

If it's really hard and you cannot hear the booster making noise or it make alot of noise then I'd suggest getting a booster. Also MOST of the time the reason the booster goes bad is because of the master cylinder leaking fluid into the booster. If you take the master off and look into the booster and see fluid then replace both. If it has no fluid in it and the master looks good, then most likly the booster is the only problem!
