Things I would be concerned about. Given that the transmission had work done recently I would check the oil transmission level. I would also make sure that the transmission oil cooling lines to and from the radiator are open. Also look into the transmission oil cooler at the bottom of the radiator is not obstructed.
Some Honda transmissions come with an external in line filter that should be replaced if you are doing work on the transmission. Let me know if it helps

SOURCE: 2005 Honda Pilot 75,000 transmission fluid change

The bottom pan comes off and there is a pan filter that is contained in this assy. It drains from there it cannot be pumped out. They simply remove the pan and let it drain, only about 60% of the fluid actually drains out but the filter is what is important to replace to lengthen the trani life. I wouldn'ty pay more than 100-150 bucks tops for this transmission maintenance.(although it is well worth it) Good Luck

SOURCE: Radiator fan doesn't always turn on when engine gets hot

check fuses #25 and #6 (both 30 amp)
the fan thermostat is on the left side of the rad.
turn the ignition on, and after pulling back the boot, short across the two terminal with a screwdriver.

if the fan runs, fan and wiring are both good.

if it only runs when thermoswitch is shorted like this, switch needs to be replaced (get the low temp switch to prevent overheating - your temp gauge will not go over the middle position even on the hottest days; also get a low temp thermostat, and ALWAYS get a Saab stat, not an after market!)

if the fan doesn't run when switch is shorted, check for valtage between green wire and ground at the switch.

Voltage indicates faulty fan, if no voltage then check the fan relay J in the main fuse box.

SOURCE: cooling system overheats. radiator stays cool.

Try replacing the coolant temp sensor. Get the one from the dealer. The others do not fix the problem.

The fan module is the big silver box with fins on it, right next to the fans. Just follow the fan cables and you will find it. Don't jumper the fans without unplugging or you may destroy the power transistors in the fan unit. Check the temperature sensor for the fan control unit - near the front of the engine - it should have some resistance - not be short circuit or open circuit, it is a sensor, not a switch. If short or open, that is likely to be the problem, otherwise, ensure that the control units have electrical supply, otherwise, it is very likely to be the control unit.

SOURCE: Both radiator cooling fans won't turn on vehicle overheats

The fans come on only when hot or the AC is on. There are many fuses that have to be good for it to work. The fan relay should have 2 pins hot with the key on, The other 2 should be ground. with the key off one should be hot and the other can then be ground the other pins that are ground one of them is the fan. the other becomes ground when the computer turns the fans on. If you don't have a pin thats hot at the relay all the time then theres a blown fuse or even the power wire from the battery at the battery

I have a 2006 honda pilot and my ac blows hot when im at a complete stop and then shortly afterwards my car runs hot.but whenever i drive again .what should! do and what could it be? Please help me!!

Is your radiator fan working the way it should? If car cools down with forward motion it seems that the forward movement is doing the cooling and when you stop there is no cooling.

2004 Honda Pilot runs hot when stopped. Change the thermostat but notices the radiator fan is not turning on. Could it be the cooling fan fuses ?

Yes... Misty B,

Could be a relay (also).

Overheating when I sit idle.

Over heating the engine is a serious concern. With the hood raised you should hear the motorized fan turn on just behind the radiator as the engine requires additional cooling.. If you look in from the rear of the radiator you should see the fan blades.

This electric powered motor operates on a thermostat and when the engine temperature rises this fan should come on. I'm assuming from your description that when driving and air is flowing through the radiator as the car travels the engine is nor overheating.

Check fan motor thermostat, check fan motor and check wiring.

Motor engine cooling fan only runs as engine temperature requires additional cooling.

Car runs hot after being driven for awhile while sitting idle but only after it has been turned off then turned back on shortly after driving.

Have you checked your engine coolant level? It may be as simple as that, or it could be more complicated. Have you changed your serpentine belt recently? Is/are the radiator cooling fan(s) coming on when the engine heats up? If engine is hot and you turn it off, do the radiator cooling fans continue to run for a period of time? Several possibile problems and solutions here. Need more info please.

My gauge on my civic reads HOT but the car is fine. no smoke, no stalling, as if nothing is wrong... drove it 50miles today on "HOT" read but nothing wrong. i just changed the temp sensor and the...

Hondas are very tough cars and will run hot right up until a radiator hose ruptures. You need to make sure that there is not a problem.
When your Honda says it is hot, make sure the radiator fan is running. If not, it can be a bad fan or fan relay.
Next, turn on the heat full blast and make sure that you have allot of heat coming into the car. If not, even though your overflow tank has fluid in it, your radiator may be dry. This can happen if your radiator cap is bad. Check the fluid level in the radiator itself, but don't pull the cap until your car has cooled down at least an hour to reduce the risk of getting burned by steam.
If it stops reading HOT when you have full heat on it could be either the thermostat or a plugged radiator. Change the thermostat first since it is the cheapest fix.

Hello... I got problem with my honda odyssey. For the past 3 days, if i start the engine, after 5 min the temperature will goes up to HOT and engine indicator light-up. I turn-off the engine and then start...

Your English is very good.

From what you have described, which is a rapid over heating of the radiator coolant fluid and therefore a hot engine condition, it would appear that the thermostat in the engine's cooling system is faulty.

If the thermostat is sticking in the closed or nearly closed position temporarily, there will be no flow or very little coolant flow between the engine and the radiator and the engine will overheat.

You have advised that after the engine is shut off , and radiator coolant fluid has cooled, you re-start the engine and drive the car without the overheating condition occurring again and the radiator coolant temperature is normal. This time there is no overheating because the thermostat is working normally.

You should have the thermostat replaced as soon as possible because allowing the engine to overheat can cause very expensive engine damage.

If you had a continuing overheating condition then I would suspect both the thermostat and the water pump. However as the overheating seems to be only temporary, and clears itself after you have shut down the engine and re-started it 10 minutes later (without further overheating arising) then I think you only have a faulty thermostat.

Please also check that the electric fans which draw air through the radiator are operating. These run on a temperature sensor and will switch on automatically once the radiator coolant fluid reaches a certain temperature and then switch off again when the fluid temperature reduces. You will hear them running once they start up. If these fans are not working the radiator coolant can quickly overheat in various driving and temperature conditions because there will be insufficient air flow through the radiator to cool the fluid. If the temperature sensor is faulty or has died, or if the electric motors running the fans are faulty, the fans will not operate.

I hope this helps.

will try to help.let car cool all the way off 1st take radiator cap off, top off w fluid, start car w/ radiator cap off. let it get to operating temperature w/motor running, keep addind fluid, look under car for leaks the whole time please!! if at any time-- you see fluid coming out beyond what you may spill or overfill,,shut the car off!! you may only be low on radiator coolant.with the radiator cap off while filling, you should see the fluid moving[circulating] inside the radiator, bubbles moving downward,,ok spewing upwards out of radiator NO if this repairs good, replace cap and drive 10miles regular speed. no hot,,good,,if hot let cool copletely, check cooling fan relays under hood, black box, look for fan relays, when key is moved back from on to off,,relayshould tick, put your finger on it while someone turns key off to on,WILL NOT SHOCK YOU!! just a very small vibration to fingertip. if this good, with engine running, do engine fan come on to cool, look between radiator and engine,at the fans to insure it;s coming on. you really should be able to hear it, but i prefer to see it visually.
